A Sky News interview with Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy was cut short after mention was made of President Zelensky posting an image of a soldier wearing SS insignia.

Zelensky posted his Victory Day statement along with a collection of images of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians.

However, after it was revealed that one of the Ukrainian soldiers was wearing a symbol of the Totenkopf division of the SS, the post was hastily deleted.

During the interview, Polyanskiy made reference to the controversy, but was quickly cut off after bringing it up.

“Do you know what it is? It’s an emblem of a German SS division in the Second World War. So he published on the Victory Day an emblem of a fighter of Right Sector [banned in Russia] with this emblem, saying that this is a symbol of [the] fight against Nazism as he sees it,” Polyanskiy said.

“This was deleted after half an hour but, of course, we have a copy of this… It means that [the] UK now is covering Ukrainian authorities, which display Nazi symbols during the Victory Day,” he added.

The host of the show seemed eager to prevent Polyanskiy from elaborating any further.

“And there you have it, the famous freedom of speech in the West,” Polyanskiy subsequently joked on Telegram.

“Now they think 100 times before inviting Russian diplomats on live broadcast,” he concluded.

Yes, they may be Nazis, but they’re our Nazis!

Leftist intellectual Noam Chomsky asserted during a recent interview that there is only “one western statesman of stature” pushing to end the war in Ukraine – Donald Trump.

The professor of linguistics made the remarks in a recent interview, a clip of which was posted to Twitter by journalist Glenn Greenwald.

“Well there is, fortunately, one statesman in the United States and Europe…who has made a very sensible statement about how you can solve the crisis, namely by facilitating negotiations instead of undermining them and moving towards establishing some kind of accommodation in Europe,” said Chomsky.

The author went on to describe a plan first introduced by George H.W. Bush – Partnership for Peace – which would guarantee that NATO would not expand further eastwards and “move towards a world with no military alliances.”

Chomsky that the only prominent person advocating a “move towards negotiations and diplomacy instead of escalating the war” was “Donald J. Trump.”

This is not the first time a top leftist has cited Trump as someone whose policies would have stopped a war in the first place or brought it to a swift end.

As we highlighted last month, Marie Yovanovitch, the former US Ambassador to Ukraine, admitted there would have been no war had Trump remained in power, but that this was a bad thing.

“I think that Trump would have provided Putin with enough of what he wanted that perhaps he wouldn’t have invaded,” said Yovanovitch.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry urged that “no one wants to see a third world war” after Russia raised the prospect of the “real” threat of nuclear war.

Beijing moved to make the statement in response to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who on Monday responded to discussion about current tensions being comparable to the 1962 Cuban missile crisis.

Lavrov warned that “the risks now are considerable” in the context of the world heading towards another world war.

He also warned the west not to downplay the “serious” and “real” risks of a nuclear conflict if the United States continues to interfere in Ukraine.

“I would not want to elevate those risks artificially. Many would like that. The danger is serious, real. And we must not underestimate it,” Lavrov said.

As we previously highlighted, the US military is already deeply embedded in Ukraine and is playing a substantial role in the country’s response to Russia, despite official denials of boots on the ground.

According to French journalist Georges Malbrunot, who returned from Ukraine after arriving with volunteer fighters, Americans are directly “in charge” of the war on the ground.

Responding to Lavrov’s comments, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told reporters today, “No one wants to see the outbreak of a third world war.”

“We hope that relevant parties can keep cool-headed and exercise restraint, prevent escalation of tension, realize peace as soon as possible and avoid inflicting a heavier price on Europe and the world,” he added.

As we highlighted last month, China responded to NATO’s moral exhibitionism on Ukraine by asserting, “We will never forget who bombed our embassy in Yugoslavia.”
