Anti-Radiation Pills, Survival Food Selling Out in US Amid Panic Buying
Americans release their inner prepper.

Published
5 months agoon

Anti-radiation pills and survival food is selling out in the United States amid panic buying in response to the potential for the war in Ukraine to escalate to a nuclear conflict.
Manufacturers in the US are reporting depleted inventories of potassium iodide tablets, with IOSAT having sold out of its 14 pack boxes which ordinarily sell for $13.99 on their website.
Demand is so intense that the same box of pills is now selling for around $149 dollars on eBay.
Four boxes of Thyrosafe potassium iodide tablets were also selling for $132.50, while another listing featured a box of IOSAT 130 mg pills costing $89.95 each.
New York-based company Anbex, Inc., which supplies the pills to retailers, is completely out of stock and won’t have new stock until possibly next month.
“We hope to be back in stock in early April but we’re pushing for late March,” said Troy Jones, vice president of sales and marketing for Anbex.
Jones said demand began to spike in late February and had come from hospitals, municipalities and governments in the aftermath of Russia taking control of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
“The big run started on February 23 through February 28,” said Jones. “We sold out of all the inventory we had.”
The last time suppliers experienced similar spikes was back in 2018, when President Donald Trump tweeted he had a “much bigger & more powerful” button than North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un, in addition to the false ballistic missile alert over Hawaii that happened in January of the same year.
As we previously highlighted, despite being largely useless in the event of an actual nuclear war (they’re meant to be used to protect against radiation leaks from nuclear plants), Europeans have also been panic buying potassium iodide pills.
The CDC has warned that taking the pills on a regular basis can cause severe illness and death.
Meanwhile, as Zero Hedge highlights, there is also a run on emergency food survival kits.
“They’re panic hoarding ReadyWise emergency food kits sold at Costco Wholesale Corporation’s brick and mortar stores and or online that at least one variety of the products has already been sold out.”
“ReadyWise’s 5,400 serving count of emergency food pallet is “out of stock,” according to Costco’s website. The emergency food kit comes in 36 stackable 5.3-gallon buckets of food that last up to 25-years.”
Looks like Costco has sold out almost all their emergency food, especially the Mountain house branded items. Everything online goes to an error page. Even the $2200-$6000 pallets are sold out. Cold War 2.0 panic is here. pic.twitter.com/9PK6gH8k0s

Amnesty ‘Sorry, Not Sorry’ For Revealing Ukraine is Violating International Law
Stands by report that Ukrainian forces are being situated in residential areas.

Amnesty International has basically said it is ‘sorry, not sorry’ for revealing that Ukraine is deliberately placing military forces in residential areas in violation of international law.
The organization attracted controversy for accusing Ukrainian armed forces of violating “international humanitarian law and endanger[ing] civilians.”
According to the original report, Amnesty observers have witnessed Ukrainian forces stationed in the vicinity of residential areas and schools in at least 19 towns and villages across the country, thereby endangering civilians who are under increased threat from Russian bombardment.

President Zelensky reacted to the report in his usual manner, by accusing Amnesty of being an “accomplice of Russia – a terrorist country – and a terrorist themselves and a participant in the killings,” asserting that “Ukraine is a victim.”
After receiving a massive backlash, Amnesty appeared to back pedal, telling the media that it “deeply regrets the distress and anger that our press release on the Ukrainian military’s fighting tactics has caused.”
However, dig a little deeper and it’s clear that the group is not retracting its original claim.
Amnesty emphasized that its “sole objective” in publishing the report was to ensure that “civilians are protected.”
The group made it clear that it “fully stand[s] by our findings,” with Amnesty International’s secretary general Agnes Callamard asserting, “being in a defensive position does not exempt the Ukrainian military from respecting international humanitarian law.”
In other words, ‘sorry, not sorry’, and yes Ukraine is violating international law by placing civilians in harm’s way.

CBS News Censors Its Own Documentary Exposing How 70% of US Funding of Ukraine is Wasted
Announces “we are updating our documentary” after pressure.

CBS News has sensationally censored its own documentary after the film exposed how only 30% of weapons funding provided by the US makes it to the front lines.
A tweeted posted by CBS on Friday promoted its new film ‘Arming Ukraine’ by explaining that the documentary “explores why much of the billions of dollars of military aid that the U.S. is sending to Ukraine doesn’t make it to the front lines: “Like 30% of it reaches its final destination.”
In the documentary, experts told CBS they had no idea where most of the weaponry was going.
Republican lawmakers explained how they felt vindicated by the revelation, having previously opposed a $40 billion Ukraine aid package.
“This [is] one of the reasons I voted ‘no,’” US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) tweeted in response to the CBS report.
“Flooding a country with advanced weapons can have grave consequences, even when done with the best of intentions,” CBS’s description of the documentary read. “This CBS Reports documentary goes inside Ukraine to get a firsthand look at how military aid gets from the border to frontline soldiers, and explores the difficulties of getting the aid to the fighters who need it.”
However, the film has now been completely removed from the CBS website, with a ‘page not found’ label in its place.
After being bombarded with questions as to why the film was censored over the weekend, CBS finally announced why they had removed it.
“We removed a tweet promoting our recent doc, “Arming Ukraine,” which quoted the founder of the nonprofit Blue-Yellow, Jonas Ohman’s assessment in late April that only around 30% of aid was reaching the front lines in Ukraine,” said a tweet.

“Since that time, Ohman says delivery has improved. Additionally, the U.S. military has confirmed that defense attaché Brigadier General Garrick M. Harmon arrived in Kyiv in August for arms control and monitoring.”
“We are updating our documentary to reflect this new information and air at a later date.”

In other words, something a little too close to the truth slipped out and CBS News was put under pressure to blacklist it.
“It’s far more likely they censored the film because they broke the unspoken rule that Ukraine must be supported at all costs against Russia because the future of the Liberal World Order is at stake,” comments Chris Menahan.

US Prepares To Send $1 Billion In Latest Ukraine Weapons Package
Published

6 August, 2022Zero Hedge

The Biden administration is reportedly about to send $1 billion more in US taxpayer funded aid to Ukraine, in what will be one of the largest packages so far, Reuters reports.
The aid will include munitions for long-range weapons and armored transport vehicles, according to three anonymous sources, who added that the package had not yet been signed by President Biden, and could change in value and content before it’s a done deal. As it currently stands, the assistance includes munitions for HIMARS, NASAMS surface-to-air-missile system ammunition, and up to 50 M113 armored medical transports.
As Reuters notes, the latest assistance – which could come as early as Monday – would bring the total amount given by the Biden administration to $8.8 billion (or 9 fired Ukrainian prosecutors, if one rounds up), since Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24.
The new package comes on the heels of a recent Pentagon decision to offer medical treatment to Ukrainians at a US military hospital in Germany near Ramstein air base.
It also comes on the heels of a separate security assistance package worth up to $550 million which was announced by the Pentagon last Monday, which includes additional ammo for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS).
The new package would be funded under the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA), in which the president can authorize the transfer of articles and services from U.S. stocks without congressional approval in response to an emergency.
HIMARS play a key role in the artillery duel between Ukraine and Russia has been described as “grinding” with very little movement of the front line in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region.
Since Russian troops poured over the border in February in what Putin termed a “special military operation”, the conflict has settled into a war of attrition fought primarily in the east and south of Ukraine. -Reuters
The latest round of assistance (which comes two weeks after Ukraine’s first-lady and Vogue magazine ‘Portrait of Bravery‘ Olena Zeleska asked for more weapons) should come as no surprise… after all, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) recently said the quiet part out loud – revealing that as long as US taxpayer funded assistance flows into Ukraine in what he considers ‘the right path,’ they can ‘fight to the last person.’
