Despite Vaccine Passport Schemes, COVID Cases Surging Across Europe

While no lockdown, no mandate Sweden is doing just fine.

Despite vaccine passport schemes and high vaccination rates in many of the countries affected, COVID cases across Europe are surging once again.

New coronavirus cases in Germany topped the 50,000 mark for the first time, with authorities pushing for the imposition of more restrictions on top of the ones that haven’t worked.

As Will Jones writes, “A late autumn surge in reported Covid infections is underway in Europe, with spikes in Austria, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Norway, and the possible beginnings of one in France, Portugal and Italy. This is despite high vaccine coverage and the heavy use of vaccine passports in most of these countries including Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and France.”

Jones notes that there is no new variant of the virus causing the spike and that virtually all of these countries already experienced a surge due to the delta variant.

Since all these countries have relatively high vaccination rates, one can only assume that the new surge is partly due to the waning effectiveness of vaccines.

As we highlighted yesterday, a choir concert in Germany that allowed only fully vaccinated or recovered people to attend, banning those who are unvaccinated but could provide a negative test, resulted in a COVID-19 outbreak that infected at least 24 people.

One place where COVID cases and deaths remain low compared to other European countries is Sweden, which never imposed a hard lockdown and has no vaccine passport scheme or mask mandate.

You’d think there might be a lesson in that.

But apparently, the very existence of “herd immunity” is now a ‘dangerous conspiracy theory’.

Top Physician Says Vaccines Will Be ‘Needed For Years’ to Combat ‘Ebola-Level’ Strain of COVID

Ebola’s average mortality rate is 50 per cent.

A top physician says it will be necessary to keep “vaccinating the world for years” in order to prevent a COVID strain as deadly as Ebola from developing.

The comments were made earlier today by Frank Ulrich Montgomery, chairman of the global physicians’ society the World Medical Association (WMA).

“My great concern is that there could be a variant that is as infectious as Delta and as dangerous as Ebola,” he told the newspapers of the Funke media group.

According to Montgomery, “It will be necessary to vaccinate the world for years to come.”

The physician also called for draconian lockdown measures to be re-introduced to stop Germany’s current COVID wave.

“We should therefore close the Christmas markets nationwide,” he said. “There is no point in banning the Christmas markets in one region if people then go to another where they are still open.”

Montgomery also wants New Years Eve fireworks celebrations and other mass gathering events to be cancelled.

“If the incidences cannot be brought under control, the federal states would have to be able to close nationwide businesses again or impose curfews,” he added.

Montgomery may be leaving himself open to criticism of being alarmist given that the average fatality rate of Ebola is 50%, with some strains even having a 90% mortality rate.

The average fatality rate of COVID-19 is around 1% in high-income countries and highly dependent on co-morbidities, but far lower in countries with younger populations.

The new mutant strain was first detected in four people who were fully vaccinated, according to a public statement by the Botswana government.

As we previously highlighted, despite widespread fear over the ‘Omicron’ variant, South Africa’s medical chief Dr. Angelique Coetzee described the panic as a “storm in a teacup,” adding that she had only seen “very very mild cases” of the variant so far.

The new ‘Omicron’ variant of COVID-19 was first detected in four people who were fully vaccinated, according to a public statement by the Botswana government.

The new variant, which some claim is three times more contagious, was initially discovered in Botswana before it spread across South Africa.

The news was met with global alarm, prompting financial markets to plummet and new travel bans to be put in place.

According to a public statement by the Botswana government, the new mutation was first discovered in four people who had received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the report, four cases of the new variant “were reported and recorded” on November 22.

“The preliminary report revealed that all the four had been completely vaccinated for COVID-19,” according to Botswana authorities.

In a subsequent statement, the government revealed that the new variant “was detected on four foreign nationals who had entered Botswana on the 7th November 2021, on a diplomatic mission.”

“The quartet tested positive for COVID-19 on the 11th November 2021 as they were preparing to return,” according to the statement.

In a piece of good news, others who had close contact with the infectees “have no COVID-19 symptoms and have tested negative for COVID-19.”

As we highlighted earlier, according to Belgian Prime Minister , the Omicron variant is so potentially devastating that it should be called ‘COVID-21’.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s medical chief Dr. Angelique Coetzee described the panic as a “storm in a teacup,” adding that she had only seen “very very mild cases” of the variant so far.

Belgian Prime Minister Says New Variant Heralds Arrival of ‘COVID-21’

Claims it’s three times more infectious.

The Prime Minister of Belgium says the new mutant variant of coronavirus is so potentially devastating that it should be called ‘COVID-21’.

Yes, really.

Alexander De Croo made the comments during a press conference after international markets plummeted in response to the news that the ‘Nu’ variant of the virus had been discovered in Botswana and spread across South Africa.

“You could say that this is Covid-21 instead of Covid-19: it is three times more infectious than the original virus,” said De Croo.

His remarks came in the aftermath of sustained media panic over the new mutation and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) describing the variant as “the worst one we’ve seen so far.”

It was confirmed that the B.1.1.529 variant had reached Europe after it was detected in someone who had entered Belgium after traveling to Egypt.

Some European countries are already tightening COVID restrictions despite the fact that very little is known about the new strain and it could take weeks to determine if it is a major threat.

However, international alarm over the mutation was questioned by South Africa’s medical chief Dr. Angelique Coetzee, who described the response as a “storm in a teacup.”

According to Coetzee, South Africa has only recorded “very very mild cases” of the variant so far.
