The Offspring’s Drummer Has Been Fired For Refusing To Take COVID Vaccine

He’s even had the virus and recovered, but natural immunity isn’t a thing anymore

Drummer Pete Parada, who has been in the band The Offspring for over fourteen years has been unceremoniously fired because he refuses to take COVID vaccines.

Parada released a detailed statement explaining that for pre-existing medical reasons he refuses to take the vaccine, yet this has led to him being deemed “unsafe” to be around in recording studios or on the road.

In a Twitter thread, Parada stated “Given my personal medical history and the side-effect profile of these jabs, my doctor has advised me not to get a shot at this time.”

Parada also stated that he has recovered from the virus itself, yet this seemingly wasn’t taken into consideration before he was fired from the band.

Parada wrote that “I caught the virus over a year ago, it was mild for me – so I am confident I’d be able to handle it again, but I’m not so certain I’d survive another post-vaccination round of Guillain-Barré Syndrome, which dates back to my childhood and has evolved to be progressively worse over my lifetime. Unfortunately for me, (and my family – who is hoping to keep me around a bit longer) the risks far outweigh the benefits.”

Parada described being vaccinated as “increasingly becoming an industry mandate,” and explained that The band is “doing what they believe is best for them, while I am doing the same.”

The drummer also made his feelings clear on the clear move we are seeing toward vaccine coercion and ostracisation from society for those who do not or cannot comply.

“While my reason for not getting this jab is medical, I want to make sure I’m not carving out a space that is only big enough for me. I need to state, unequivocally, that I support informed consent – which necessitates choice unburdened by coercion,” Parada wrote.

“I do not find it ethical or wise to allow those with the most power (government, corporations, organizations, employers) to dictate medical procedures to those with the least power,” Parada continued.

He eloquently explained “There are countless folks (like me) for whom these shots carry a greater risk than the virus. Most of us don’t publicly share a private decision we made in careful consideration with our doctors. We know it’s not an easy conversation to unfold.”

Further noting that “half the population is having a shockingly different reaction to these jabs than was expected,” Parada added “I hope we can learn to make room for all the perspectives and fears that are happening currently. Let’s avoid the unfortunate tendency to dominate, dehumanize and shout down at each other. The hesitant population is not a monolithic group. All voices deserve to be heard.”

Parada’s case comes amid a period of massive uncertainty in the music industry concerning what will happen going forward with live events.

While some established artists have refused to play shows that are using so called vaccine passports, others such as the Foo Fighters have fully embraced the scheme, leading to backlash.

In the past week, two high profile football (soccer for Americans) players have collapsed on the field of play, continuing a trend that has seemingly now become the norm.

Last Wednesday, 28-year-old Brazilian player Zé Carlos, from the club Ferroviário suffered a sudden illness while playing in a cup match.

He was treated as the game went on, according to reports, and returned to the pitch for a short time before being substituted and then collapsing and being taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Thankfully, the player was later released from hospital and is recovering.

In another incident in Spain, 25-year-old Serbian defender Dragisa Gudelj collapsed on the pitch, suffering a cardiac arrest.

Reports state that doctors performed CPR on the field reviving Gudelj. They treated him for seven minutes before taking him to the hospital.

Other players were left in a state of shock with some breaking down in tears. The game was abandoned after the incident.

The reports state that when Gudelj regained consciousness he wanted to carry on playing in the match.

The player is now “stable” but under “close surveillance” in hospital.

Gudelj’s brother, who also plays in Spain sent out an update noting “The life of my brother, (his heart is) still beating, thanks to the medical services of Cordoba CF.”

In addition to these two incidents, earlier this month, an Ivorian defender for RC Abidjan, Moustapha Sylla, was not so fortunate as he sadly passed away after collapsing during a league game.

He was just 21-years-old.

In Greece last month, a 20-year-old player from Karditsa suddenly collapsed without any contact with another footballer and later died in hospital.

The ongoing spate of players experiencing heart problems, chest pains, and at worst collapsing and dying has led many to call for investigations into what is causing an apparent elevation of such incidents.

    The world’s number one tennis player Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the Miami Open and the U.S. Open because he is still banned from entering the country owing to his vaccination status.

    While the news is being reported as a “visa dispute,” the reason Djokovic cannot complete is because he refuses to take the COVID vaccine.

    Djokovic has appealed for a special dispensation to play in the tournaments, given that the restrictions are slated to end in April anyway.

    Djokovic requested a vaccine waiver, however it was rejected by the Homeland Security Department in a blatant move to once make an example out of the premier athlete.

    Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio of Florida expressed support for the 22 time grand slam victor, and called on Congress to throw out Joe Biden’s “bogus vaccine mandate.”

    “It has come to our attention that your administration is in receipt of a request to waive the current vaccine mandate for international travelers entering the United States from top-ranked men’s tennis player Novak Djokovic,” the Senators wrote in a letter.

    “We write to urge you to grant the requested waiver, which is necessary to allow Mr. Djokovic to compete in the Miami Open professional tennis tournament held in our home state of Florida beginning March 19, 2023,” the pair added.

    The letter continues, “In September 2022, you plainly declared to a national audience on 60 Minutes that ‘the [COVID-19] pandemic is over,’ and, earlier this year, Dr. Anthony Fauci published a professional article acknowledging the limited efficacy of vaccines in protecting against respiratory pathogens, like the novel coronavirus.”

    “In light of these changing circumstances, and admissions by you and members of your own administration, the current restrictive vaccine mandate which you have maintained for international travelers entering the United States seems outdated and worthy of rescission,” the Senators urge.

    They add, “Mr. Djokovic is a world-class athlete in peak physical condition who is not at high-risk of severe complications from COVID-19. It seems both illogical and misaligned with the opinions of your own administration to not grant him the waiver he requests so that he may travel to the U.S. to compete in a professional event.”

    Moderna Backpedals, Guarantees ‘Free’ Covid-19 Vaccines After Demand Collapses

    mRNA vaccine maker Moderna has backpedaled on a January plan to charge $110 to $130 per dose of Covid-19 vaccine (up from $26 per dose for booster shots), and is now promising that people won’t have to pay for the jab once the US Government stops buying shots.

    “Moderna remains committed to ensuring that people in the United States will have access to our COVID-19 vaccines regardless of ability to pay,” the company said in a statement, adding that the vaccine “will continue to be available at no cost for insured people whether they receive them at their doctors’ offices or local pharmacies.”

    Those without insurance – or whose insurance is inadequate, will be able to get jabbed “at no cost” via a Moderna assistance program.

    As The Epoch Times notes,

    Because the COVID-19 vaccines were added to the child immunization schedule, children whose families cannot pay for the vaccine will be eligible to receive them for free, with taxpayers covering the cost.

    That would happen through a program called Vaccines for Children.

    Advisers to the government, who recommended the addition to the schedule, said it was because the vaccines can prevent severe illness. The new vaccines, poised to replace the original shots, are not backed by any clinical trial data yet.

    Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said that the only reason the vaccines were placed on the schedule was so they could be covered by the Vaccines for Children program.

    “It was the only way that our uninsured children would be able to have access to the vaccines,” Walensky said during a congressional hearing on Feb. 8. “That was the reason to put it on the schedule.”

    The announcement comes amid a collapse in demand for Covid-19 vaccines.

    According to analyst estimates, Pfizer, Moderna, Gilead Sciences, AstraZeneca and Merck could suffer a drop in sales of nearly two-thirds, Reuters reports.

    “We remain skeptical that COVID revenues will grow in 2024 and beyond,” said JPMorgan analyst Chris Schott in a recent research note, adding that vaccination rates could drop even further than the significant decline already seen in booster shots last year.

    Moderna also expects 2023 revenue to drop sharply.

    The company’s only product – its messenger RNA COVID vaccine – pulled in around $18.4 billion in 2022. Analysts expect that to drop to around $7 billion in 2023. The company is due to report earnings later this month.

    Oppenheimer & Co analyst Hartaj Singh said investors are “frustrated Moderna hasn’t used their firepower more effectively to prepare for revenues and earnings going down in 2023 or 2024.” -Reuters
