Canadian Minister Jetted To Caribbean While Lecturing People To ‘Sacrifice’ Holidays
Tried to cover up luxury St. Barts getaway

Another government figure has been slammed for lecturing people to stay home to keep COVID cases down, while not even bothering to do so himself.
Ontario’s Finance Minister Rod Phillips has been slammed for asking people to ‘make sacrifices’ and forget about going on holiday, while himself jetting off to the Caribbean.
As we all make sacrifices this #Christmas, remember that some of our fellow citizens won't even be home for Christmas dinner over Zoom.

Thousands of front line heroes will be at work, looking out for us.
Who is the special hero in your life you want to thank?

When it emerged that Phillips had left the country, breaking the ‘non-essential travel’ mandate, he was forced to issue an apology, claiming he “deeply” regretted traveling and “it was a mistake and I apologize.”
“I left on a personally paid trip to St. Barts on Dec. 13 following the end of the Legislative session,” Phillips noted claiming he was “making arrangements to return to Ontario immediately and will begin a 14-day quarantine as soon as I arrive.”
Social media users pointed out that Phillips appears to have scheduled a stream of Twitter posts to make it appear he was still in Ontario, but was wearing the same clothes in all of them because the photos were all taken on the same day before he left:
Rod Phillips and his staff put an enormous amount of effort into his deception. https://t.co/nitO2ScJvn https://t.co/XMW8QirXiK

Phillips also tried to cover up the fact he was in the Caribbean during a video conference call on December 16, using a fake background:
.@RodPhillips01 are those waves we hear behind your Queen’s Park Zoom background? This is disgraceful, and Ford knew about it for two weeks. #onpoli

Now angry residents, who are locked down between provinces, are calling for his head:
What else helps with keeping an outbreak under control?
— Kiel Coyle (@EcoGeek13) December 29, 2020
Staying the fuck home & not leaving (non-essential travel) the country in the middle of a pandemic.
If you can't follow simple public health guidelines, then can we trust you with the province's finances?
FYI, WE DON'T
If Rod Phillips doesn't resign over his incredible lack of judgment, compounded by his attempts to mislead the public about his whereabouts, then leadership and accountability have no meaning in the Ford government.

This law abiding citizen is now furious. My wife and do not invite anyone family for Christmas. We even ordered food in for Christmas dinner. We cancelled our trip south. We were told that was the right thing to do. I am starting to believe we have been mislead by the @fordnation
— David Toulmin (@doulmin) December 29, 2020
Ontario Premier Doug Ford has also been slammed over the revelations, with claims that he found out about Phillips being away but did not order him to return.
“I did call him shortly after he arrived and I asked him and he said he was away,” Ford admitted Wednesday.
“My mistake, and I take full responsibility. At that time, I should have said get your backside back into Ontario and I didn’t do that,” Ford added.
The government of Ontario recently stoked controversy by suggesting that people who do not take the coronavirus vaccine will face restrictions on where they can travel and spend time.
Phillips joins a long list of COVID hypocrites in government who spend their time lecturing everyone else to hunker down while they completely ignore all restrictions.

Professor of Medicine Brags About Wearing Two Face Masks to Inauguration Despite Having Been Vaccinated
Later deletes tweet after being ridiculed.

A professor of medicine and frequent CNN guest bragged about wearing two face masks to attend Joe Biden’s inauguration despite having already received a COVID-19 vaccine, but later deleted the tweet after receiving criticism.
Megan L Ranney MD posted a photo of herself wearing two masks alongside the words, “Off I go to #Inauguration21….with an old N95 under my cloth mask. Heebie Jeebies from being in an airport, despite being fully vaccinated.”
She also added that she was “thankful” for more draconian screening measures in the aftermath of the breach at the Capitol earlier this month.
However, respondents to the tweet slammed Ranney for her hysterical overreaction and apparent desperation for social media clout while others questioned why she would need to wear two masks while vaccinated if masks and vaccines were effective.
Presumably, if wearing a mask makes you a good person, wearing two masks makes you a doubleplusgood person.
Others pointed out that aside from the debate about whether or not masks are actually effective in stopping the spread of COVID-19, this is the latest example of a leftist betraying the fact that the face mask has become the latest insipid token of sanctimonious virtue signaling and obedience.
Ranney deleted the tweet a few hours after she posted it.
"The Biden team has a tremendous mess to sort out. It feels like the PPE crisis all over again," @meganranney says. "Our country can’t afford to wait and mess this up any longer."

Another leftist who previously bragged about wearing two face masks on Twitter also deleted his tweet after facing rididule.
As we previously highlighted, the BBC even told people to wear face masks during sex, while leftists don’t seem too bothered about the fact that masks will contribute an estimated 7,000 tons of plastic to the oceans and take 450 years to break down.

Bali Police Force Tourists Caught Not Wearing Masks to Do Push-Ups
Russians blamed for not following rules.

Police in Bali are forcing tourists caught not wearing face masks to do push-ups and sweep the streets as punishment.
The sanction is being handed out primarily to foreigners who don’t have cash on them to pay a fine of AUD $9.
According to authorities, around 80 per cent of those flouting the rules, which requires masks to be worn even outside, were visiting foreigners.
They are referred to by locals as “naughty bule” (naughty foreigners) and are being blamed for public disorder.
In response, officials are forcing them to do 25 push-ups or sweep the streets, but if photos posted by the Daily Mail are anything to go by, not many people are taking it seriously.
Deport them, then ban them for a period – Foreigners caught without masks in Bali are given a unusual punishment https://t.co/GWrosuokdl via @MailOnline #indonesia #bali #covid19

According to Kerta Suryanegara, head of the public order police, rulebreakers “act like Covid-19 is not real” and simply laugh in the faces of officials when confronted.
“How could I not be annoyed? Sometimes we feel that we have been abused in our country,” said Suryanegara about the attitude of tourists to the pandemic.
According to the report, most of the “foreigners” responsible for not following mask rules are Russians.
Meanwhile, innumerable people in developed countries continue to wear face masks even while doing vigorous exercise, something that the World Health Organization has warned should not be practiced.
Wearing a mask during running can cause serious breathing difficulties and potentially deadly respiratory problems, but apparently virtue signaling is more important.

Poll: Plurality of Brits Support Government Spying On People via Cellphone Tracking to Enforce Lockdown
76 per cent support banning handshakes.

A plurality of people in Britain support giving the government powers to spy on people’s movements via cellphone tracking to enforce lockdown, according to a new poll.
The YouGov poll asked people in multiple different countries if they supported, “The Government in [country name] using the mobile phone data of individuals to ensure they are complying with restrictions on movement outside of the home during a lockdown.”
45 per cent of Brits supported the measure compared to 42 per cent who opposed it.
To put that into perspective, more people than not literally support handing the state the power to track people’s physical movements in real time by giving them access to GPS triangulation data.
This is a bit mad. Brits asked:
"Would you support government using the mobile phone data of individuals to ensure they comply with restrictions on movement outside of the home during a lockdown?"

In Australia, which has seen one of the strictest lockdowns in the developed world, a whopping 62 per cent support the measure with just 29 per cent opposing it.
When asked whether the government should “ban handshakes,” 76 per cent of respondents in the UK supported the idea, with just 13 per cent in opposition.
YouGov poll results have routinely found that large majorities of the UK population support increasingly draconian government lockdown measures, despite a new Stanford University study showing lockdowns have no benefits in controlling viruses compared to voluntary measures.
Academics from Duke, Harvard, and Johns Hopkins have also concluded that there could be around a million excess deaths over the next two decades as a result of lockdowns.
As we reported yesterday, UK authorities are also considering a new measure that would force people to send selfies every day to prove they’re self-isolating, photos which would then be cross-referenced using GPS data and facial-recognition software.
