Red Cross Warns ‘Fake Vaccine News’ Could Cause “Second Pandemic”

Calls for defeat of “parallel pandemic of distrust” in vaccines

The head of the Red Cross has warned that the spread of “fake news” concerning vaccines could cause a “second pandemic”.

German news agency Deutsche Welle reports that Francesco Rocca, president of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, commented during a virtual round table discussion that there is a “parallel pandemic of distrust” that needs to be defeated.

The report notes that Rocca warned of a “growing hesitancy” globally toward vaccines, noting that “a vaccine in-and-of-itself will not be enough to end this pandemic.”

Rocca also asserted that the lack of trust in vaccines “is by no means a Western phenomenon,” further noting that “In several African countries, we have seen a common skepticism towards vaccines in general, with a common belief being that foreigners use Africa as a medical `testing ground.”‘

“We believe that the massive, coordinated efforts that will be needed to roll out the COVID vaccine in an equitable manner need to be paralleled by equally massive efforts to proactively build and maintain trust,” Rocca said.

“We stand ready to support government efforts to roll out a COVID-19 vaccine, including by leading and supporting efforts to counteract misinformation and build trust,” Rocca added.

Rocca warned against the rise of “vaccine nationalism”, a concern previously posited by Bill Gates that not everyone in the world will be given access to a COVID vaccine.

Rocca called for a globally coordinated effort to vaccinate everyone via a program known as the COVAX facility.

“We call again on all the governments who have not joined the COVAX facility to consider doing so and to show leadership at theinternational level. We also call on governments who have joined the COVAX facility to increase their allocation to this valuable multilateral mechanism to further increase equity in future vaccine distribution,” the Red Cross head said.

“The vaccine must go to where it is needed, not just to where it can be afforded,” Rocca added.

The comments come amid concerns that the vaccines will be made mandatory all over the world, either by law or by means of social coercion.

The UK government has today scrambled to clarify remarks made Monday by UK vaccine minister Nadhim Zahawi, indicating that so called “immunity passports” may be required by bars, restaurants, cinemas and stadiums for people to enter.

Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove denied that the government is planning to implement such a scheme, but admitted that “Of course, individual businesses have the capacity to make decisions about who they will admit and why.”

Government Minister Says People Should “Call Out” Others For Hugging Their Loved Ones

Suggests loving embraces should be patrolled even as lockdown begins to ease.

A government minister appeared on morning television to urge Brits to “call out” others if they were seen engaging “in an odd way,” such as hugging their loved ones.

Yes, really.

Nigel Huddleston, the UK’s minister for tourism and sport, made the remarks during an interview spot on BBC Breakfast.

“Despite the temptation, please don’t risk the health of your loved ones by actually hugging them,” said Huddleston, before going on to suggest that people should intervene if they witness such dreadful behavior.

“We all know the rules…if you see somebody behaving in a slightly odd way, then maybe call them out on it in a respectful way, because sometimes some people just forget,” he added.

Huddleston said it was “a little bit awkward” to refuse close physical contact but “in these circumstances it’s the right thing to do.”

Twitter users reacted to the minister’s comments with a mixture of disbelief and scorn.

“Hugging someone is odd? Christ we’ve been taken over by the Borg. Can imagine the lunatics taking photos of busy play areas now walking round with megaphones ‘calling people out’ Smiling face with open mouth and tightly-closed eyes,” said one.

“Odd behaviour as defined by year – 2019: Someone looking shady, potentially holding or carrying a suspicious package, with likely terror related intentions 2021: someone who hugs a close friend/relative,” said another.

Others were defiant in saying they would hug their loves ones, with one remarking, “I’m seeing my kids next weekend for the first time since the end of December! Wild horses wouldn’t stop me hugging them!”

The minister made the remarks on the day that lockdown in England took a further step towards easing, with people being allowed to meet outside in groups of up to six people.

However, as we previously highlighted, other public health officials have asserted that social distancing and mask wearing will continue for years no matter when the pandemic is declared to be over.

“CCP’s Useful Idiots”: U.S. Rep Slams WHO COVID Origin Whitewash Report

Says China is “covering up to the world the pandemic’s origins”

Republican Representative Lee Zeldin has blasted the World Health Organisation as China’s “useful idiots” after a draft version of its investigation into the origins of the coronavirus outbreak was revealed to have dismissed the lab leak theory as ‘extremely unlikely’.

Zeldin slammed China for “covering up to the world the pandemic’s origins” and called for a real independent investigation:

The WHO report repeats the often touted CCP explanation that the virus was likely transmitted to humans by animals, and did not come from a lab.

WHO officials have stated that the report will be officially released in the coming days:

The notion that the virus came from a ‘wet market’ in Wuhan discounts the fact that cases were reported before localised outbreaks close to the market.

Last week, Dr. Robert Redfield, the former director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under President Trump declared that he believes the virus originated in a lab in Wuhan, China.

It’s a theory that is supported by top US National Security officials in the US and Britain, as well as scores of virologists and other scientists.

A prominent German scientist with the University of Hamburg released findings in February of a year long study that concludes the most likely cause of the coronavirus pandemic was a leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

As we highlighted last month, after spending months trying to negotiate the visit, WHO officials largely absolved China of blame for the COVID-19 pandemic after visiting a virus lab in Wuhan for just 3 hours.

Video: Fauci Says Kids Need To Wear Face Masks To Play Together

“When the children go out into the community, you want them to continue to wear masks”

White House health adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci declared Sunday that children either need to be vaccinated or must wear face masks if they want to play together.

“When the children go out into the community, you want them to continue to wear masks when they’re interacting with groups or multiple households,” Fauci proclaimed during an appearance on CBS News.

Fauci added that “children can clearly wind up getting infected” even if other kids they play with have been vaccinated against coronavirus.

Watch:

Fauci added that children may ‘conceivably’ be able to engage in Summer camps, but only if mass vaccinations continue.

“We now have 3 to 3.5 million vaccinations each day. If we keep up with that pace, invariably, that’s going to drive the rate and the level of infections per day to a much much lower level,” Fauci said, adding that this may provide a “good degree of flexibility during the summer… with things like camps.”

Fauci warned that removing restrictions before vaccinations have been completed is “premature”, adding that an increase in cases of COVID “is because of things like spring break and pulling back on the mitigation methods that you’ve seen.”

Last week Fauci claimed that in order for herd immunity against coronavirus to be reached in the US, children and even babies will have to be vaccinated.

Fauci also dismissed concerns that mRNA COVID-19 vaccines could impact children’s genetics.
