Poll: Majority Of Conservative Students Say They ‘Self Censor’ To Avoid Upsetting Leftists

Only 15% of Democrats say they do the same.

A survey conducted by College Fix recently has found that a majority of conservative students say they will ‘self censor’ around others so as not to offend or upset leftists.

“With the current political climate, do you expect to self-censor yourself in class this semester so your professors or peers don’t take offense at your ideas?” the survey asked.

A total of 54 percent of conservatives said they would indeed keep their political views to themselves for this reason.

On the flip side, only 15% of those who identified as Democrats said they would temper their political opinions so as not to cause friction.

As College Fix notes, this means that “Republican college students are three times more likely to self-censor than Democratic ones”:

The survey also found that ten percent more white students are likely to self censor than black or latino students:

Responding to the findings, Nicole Neily, president of student civil liberties advocate group Speech First, said it is worrying that “The window of acceptable discourse on modern college campuses is very narrow — and has moved increasingly far to the left.”

“Students also credibly fear their peers, who are increasingly intolerant of differing viewpoints,” Neily continued, adding that “Rather than leverage the tools of discussion, debate and persuasion, students now seem inclined to strong-arm their peers into compliance through cancelling and doxxing — allegations that last forever on the internet, and have the very real possibility of ruining someone’s future professional opportunities.”

Conservative student advocacy groupYoung America’s Foundation spokesperson Spencer Brown added that the findings highlight how ‘wokeness’ is squashing freedom of expression on campuses.

“The resulting institutional reality is one where trigger warnings and speech codes take precedence over the Constitution, where students are taught to say ‘ouch’ when they hear something they disagree with, and where—confusingly—both speech deemed unpopular and silence deemed inappropriate are treated as physical violence,” Brown urged.

“Speaking up to question presuppositions or even just engaging in healthy discussion can bring lasting consequences,” Brown asserted, adding “This reality is antithetical to the practice of higher learning, and it means fewer and fewer students are willing to speak up.”

A survey conducted last year found that almost three quarters of conservative students say they are withholding their political views both in class and from their written work for fear that they will be downgraded by leftist professors.

The trend of taking away First amendment rights of conservatives on campuses has been ongoing for years now, with prominent figures on the right being shouted down and cancelled at Universities nationwide.

The idea of free speech and freedom of expression has become so warped on campuses that leftist college students believe it’s their ‘right’ to deny others their First Amendment.

Students who have publicly professed conservative opinions have been subjected to investigation and punishment by professors and college officials.

David Rothschild Ridiculed For Complaining About Elon Musk’s Privilege

“You’re literally a Rothschild.”

David Rothschild faced ridicule on Twitter for complaining that Elon Musk grew up in privilege, with one user telling the economist, “You’re literally a Rothschild.”

The farce was kicked off by Rothschild, a market analyst, tweeting, “Rich white son of emerald mine owner who grew up in apartheid South Africa is the real victim in our society #ThoughtsAndPrayers.”

The snarky tweet was in response to Musk saying he can no longer vote Democrat because they have become the party of “division and hate,” and that he will vote Republican.

The response from other Twitter users was swift, and ‘Rothschild’ quickly became a trending topic.

“You are literally a Rothschild,” said one respondent.

“A rothschild complaining about other peoples privileges. The joke tells itself,” remarked another.

“Oh for f*** sake…its getting comical now. A Rothschild whinging about musks privileges…,” wrote John Kelly.

Others found it equally hilarious.

Rothschild countered by claiming he had no links to the banking dynasty.

As to Rothschild’s apartheid smear, back in March Musk vociferously denied his family ever owned an emerald mine, or that their money came from exploiting apartheid.

George W. Bush Inadvertently Condemns “Unjustified and Brutal Invasion of Iraq”

He meant to say Ukraine.

Former President George W. Bush endured an awkward moment during a speech when he meant to refer to Ukraine but instead condemned “the decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq.”

Whoops.

Bush made the error during a speech where he compared Ukrainian President Zelensky to Winston Churchill.

“The decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq. I mean of Ukraine,” said Bush.

Freudian slip, much?

Bush blamed his age for the gaffe, joking, “I’m 75,” but his entire presidency was replete with similar such moments.

Bush’s reference to Russia eliminating political opponents from participating in the electoral process can equally be applied to Ukraine.

President Zelensky recently signed a law banning political opposition parties if they are deemed to be “pro-Russian,” a vague smear that could be applied broadly.

He also nationalized all television networks in the country, freezing out any possibility of dissent.

A YouTuber who criticized Zelensky was also recently detained on an international arrest warrant in Spain and faces possible extradition at the behest of the Ukrainian government.

Last month, footage was released of Associated Press accompanying armed men from the Ukraine Security Service as they kidnapped and arrested dissidents from their own homes.

But yeah, Putin bad!

Tennis Star Warns Ban on Russian Players Sets Bad Precedent

Ideological purity tests for all public figures?

Published

Tennis star Daniil Medvedev says Wimbledon’s decision to ban all Russian and Belarusian players from this year’s tournament sets the precedent that sporting authorities can eliminate competitors for their political views.

The Grand Slam previously made the decision on the grounds that allowing players from those countries to compete would be a victory for “the propaganda machine of the Russian regime.”

However, both the men’s ATP and women’s WTA tours have slammed the move as discriminatory and threatened to strip Wimbledon of ranking points in retaliation for the ban.

Russians and Belarusians are still allowed to compete in other tournaments under a neutral representation.

Current world number 2 Medvedev, who has already called for peace in Ukraine, says the ban is “unfair” and is dangerous because it “sets a precedent and puts other sports competitions in an uncomfortable position.”

In other words, even after the war in Ukraine is over, sports professionals could face career ruination because they oppose or even just refuse to comment on whatever the latest political ‘current thing’ may be.

One can easily imagine a future where prominent public figures are punished for failing to endorse the ‘right’ political candidate or express support for whatever contemporary hot button issue is on the agenda.

Novak Djokavic was already punished by Australian authorities earlier this year for refusing to take a COVID-19 vaccine.

Medvedev also asserted that it was his right to appear at Wimbledon under current immigration laws.

“Currently in the United Kingdom, Russian self-employed workers have the right to work. So if I have the opportunity to play Wimbledon, I’d be delighted,” he said.

As we previously highlighted, the French Open tennis tournament has also warned Russian players not to make political statements in support of President Vladimir Putin if they wish to take part in the grand slam.

Ukrainian tennis star Elina Svitolina also previously demanded that Russian and Belarusian players be subjected to ideological purity tests before they are allowed to compete in international tournaments.
