Houston Mayor Orders $250 Fines For People Who Refuse to Wear Masks

Police will enforce new law during regular patrols.

Democratic Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner has announced that police will begin issuing citations against people not wearing masks, hitting them with a fine of $250 dollars.

“For months, we have been focusing on education and not citations, but now I am instructing the Houston Police Department to issue the necessary warnings and citations to anyone not wearing a mask in public if they do not meet the criteria for an exemption,” the mayor said Monday at a press briefing.

Police said that the wouldn’t respond to call outs reporting people for not wearing masks, but they would issue the fine if they saw someone not covering up during regular patrols.

Turner asked residents to not “get mad” at police officers, asserting, “It’s all about public health and driving our numbers down.”

As we highlighted yesterday, Dr. Deborah Birx suggested that Americans should wear masks inside their own homes to protect elderly loved ones from coronavirus.

The efficacy of masks is far from the settled science that the mainstream media purports it to be, with the Netherlands refusing to enforce the wearing of masks, while health authorities in Sweden have described them as “pointless.”

Last week, Dr. Anthony Fauci raised the prospect of face coverings becoming even more cumbersome when he suggested Americans may wish to start wearing eye goggles in addition to a mask.

Report: Covid “Whistleblowers” Are Making Money From Tattling On Those Who Break Rules

“We’re all very pro-snitch right now”

A Reuters report that describes as “whistleblowers” students reporting on their classmates for breaking COIVD rules, also highlights that the authorities are paying them to walk around campuses and “enforce” social distancing measures and mask mandates.

“As some U.S. college students party, others blow the whistle,” the report states, noting that some are even making ‘undercover videos’ of their fellow student disobeying the rules and and handing the footage over to school authorities.

“At the University of Missouri, one senior is posting photos and videos on a “University of Misery” Twitter account that shows students gathered in large groups at pools, outside bars and other places – few of them wearing masks,” the report further states.

“The university has a form on its website where violations of the school’s COVID-19 guidelines can be anonymously reported, but posting on Twitter “adds a different level of accountability,”” the whistleblower snitch commented.

The University has expelled or suspended several students stemming from the tattling, according to the article.

The Reuters report continues:

Some schools like the University of Miami are actually paying students to enforce COVID-19 rules.

At Miami, 75 “public health ambassadors” are making $10 an hour to walk around campus and make sure that people wear masks and socially distance. Serious infractions can be flagged to university administrators.

Austin Pert, an ambassador and Miami senior, said that people generally comply with his requests. But Pert acknowledged the program has limitations: most violations do not take place during the day on university grounds.

Some students are fully onboard with the snitching, seeing it as an opportunity to get ahead of other students:

Ed Kellermann, a BU senior, said he would not hesitate to anonymously report a party, calling it a matter of “life or death” for Boston residents near campus.

Kellermann said reporting parties also increases the odds of completing the academic year on campus.

“We’re all very pro-snitch right now,” Kellermann said. “No one wants to get sent home.”

As we have documented at Summit News, several universities in the US have set up systems so students can report on each other if they see anyone breaking the Covid ‘rules’.

Video: Police Drag Man Out of School Board Meeting For Not Wearing a Mask

“You will have to tase me.”

A video out of South Dakota shows a man being dragged by police out of a school board meeting because he is not wearing a mask.

During a discussion about the school district’s mask mandate, local resident Reed Bender refused to wear a mask after being ordered to do so by Superintendent Joe Graves, who subsequently called the police.

Officers attempted to convince Bender to put on a mask but he refused, telling them, “You’re gonna have to drag me out, guys.”

“This is what you are doing, you’re sowing discord within our communities at every level, it’s disgusting,” Bender tells the school board members.

Bender repeats his assertion that the cops will have to drag him out while another attendee comments, “This is completely absurd…this is an embarrassment to our school.”

The cops then try to drag the man out of the library as he puts up resistance.

One of the officers then grabs his taser, to which Bender responds, “You will have to tase me in front of all these people.”

“This is insane,” another attendee comments as Bender is removed from the room.

“Never in my entire career as a superintendent have I had that happen before,” Superintendent Graves said. “The board said there is a masking mandate and everyone in the school building must wear a mask. We gave the gentleman fair warning of that and offered him a mask. He refused, so the board had to enforce the mandate.”

Police say that Bender hasn’t yet been charged with anything but they are still investigating the case.

Pre-Crime: New Law Would Give Australian Authorities Power to Arrest COVID “Conspiracy Theorists”

Who police think might commit a crime.

A draconian new coronavirus law could give Australian authorities the power to arrest coronavirus “conspiracy theorists” if it’s thought they may commit a crime in the future.

Yes, really.

The new COVID-19 Omnibus (Emergency Measures) bill, which is being debated in the Victoria State Parliament this week, will give local authorities the power to detain people who refuse to self-isolate as well as “conspiracy theorists” and anyone deemed to be at risk of spreading COVID-19 negligently.

A government spokesman told the Age that the measures “could be applied to conspiracy theorists who refuse to self-isolate or to severely drug-affected or mentally impaired people.”
Those detained will be held in quarantine facilities.

“If there is one thing that terrifies increasingly tyrannical governments, it’s a loss of control of the narrative, which is why the Australian government is getting a jump start on curbing any so-called “conspiracy theorists” daring to spread information that questions the fear-mongering being used to keep Aussie citizens under lock and key,” reports Zero Hedge.

As we have exhaustively documented, Australia has become the most authoritarian state in the developed world when it comes to the draconian enforcement of COVID rules.

Police have the power to enter people’s homes without a warrant and also snatch children. Earlier this month, a pregnant woman was arrested in front of her children for posting about an anti-lockdown protest on Facebook.

Numerous people have been violently arrested for not wearing a face mask on the street, while journalists have also been arrested merely for covering anti-lockdown protests. Street markets have also been raided and shut down by riot police.

Now police merely have to suspect that you could commit a crime in future in order to carry out detentions and arrests.

And there you were thinking the Minority Report was just a dystopian sci-fi movie.

We’re living in it.
