UK Estate Agents to Drop Term “Master Bedroom” to Placate Politically Correct Millennials

They claim it’s “racist,” even though term wasn’t used until nearly a hundred years after abolition of slavery.

Estate agents across the UK are set to stop using the term “master bedroom” in order to placate politically correct millennials who think such language is racist.

Yes, really.

Some property agents have decided to follow in the footsteps of US realtors, who are dropping the term “master” in listings as a sop to the Black Lives Matter movement.

The rooms will instead be described as “principle” or “primary” in the hope of warding off the potential anger of easily offended morons.

“These changes are being driven by political correctness and dramatic transformations in the buyer demographic across prime central London,” said Peter Wetherell of Wetherell estate agents in Mayfair.

“The typical buyers are now aged from their early twenties to their mid-forties and from all over the world. This young demographic tends to be very broad-minded and find any form of sexism or racism deeply offensive,” he added.

Perhaps living in fear of the same irate mob that tore down the Edward Colston statue and threw it in the river, David Westgate, the group chief executive of the Bristol-based estate agent chain, Andrews, said, “The sentiment behind the Black Lives Matter campaign has helped us all be more aware of our behaviour. We can all do more to make sure people are treated with respect.”

It is not known whether Westgate took a knee and profusely apologized for his white privilege while making that statement.

The director of Benham and Reeves estate agents in London, Marc von Grundherr, claims, “The word master does carry historically racist undertones.”

He’s wrong.

In reality, as Kurt Zindulka highlights, the phrase wasn’t in use in the United Kingdom until 1925, nearly a hundred years after slavery was officially abolished throughout the nation.

“The phrase master bedroom wasn’t used until the early 20th century,” said Trevor Abrahmson, the managing director of Glentree International. “If the woke liberal elite want to equate that with slaves and masters, that is ridiculous.”

Edward Heaton, the founder of Heaton & Partners, echoed Abrahmson’s sentiment, remarking, “It is ludicrous that we should be expected to ignore our history and heritage to placate a vociferous minority.”

John Cleese: Woke People Have “Zero Sense Of Humour”; They’re Killing Comedy

“Please tell me a good ‘woke’ joke.”

Legendary British comedian John Cleese has hit out at permanently offended woke people, insisting that they have no sense of humour and are contributing to the death of comedy.

In an appearance on the Daily Beast’s The Last Laugh Podcast, Cleese noted that woke people simply do not understand the intricacies of comedy.

“There’s plenty of people who are PC now who have absolutely zero sense of humour. I would love to debate, in a friendly way, a couple of ‘woke’ people in front of an audience. And I think the first thing I would say is, please tell me a good ‘woke’ joke,” Cleese urged.

“What they don’t understand is that there’s two types of teasing,” Cleese continued, noting that “There’s really nasty teasing, which is horrible, and we shouldn’t do it, full stop. But the other type of teasing is affectionate. You can tease people hugely affectionately and it’s a bonding mechanism.”

“All humour is critical. You cannot get laughs out of perfect human beings,” Cleese continued, adding that “If you’ve got someone up on the screen who is perfect, intelligent and kind and flexible and a good person, there’s nothing funny about that. So we only laugh at people’s frailties, but that’s not cruel. You can laugh at people’s frailties in very funny and generous ways.”

Cleese was recently at the centre of a ‘woke’ storm when his Fawlty Towers show, made some 40 years ago was temporarily canceled after complaints that it featured a ‘racist’ character.

Cleese called the BBC “cowardly and gutless” for removing an episode of the show, pointing out that the racist character in question was the target of ridicule in the show.

Cleese has previously warned that political correctness will lead to the death of comedy, noting that “If you start to say we mustn’t, we mustn’t criticize or offend them then humor is gone. With humor goes a sense of proportion. And then as far as I’m concerned you’re living in 1984.”

Cleese has been acutely aware of the threat cancel culture poses for decades:

After daring to question the diversity overlords, Cleese also recently found himself being labeled a ‘racist’:

His staunch refusal to deviate from his views has made Cleese the target of harassment.

Video: UK Thought Police Pay Man Home Visit Over “Offensive” Facebook Comments

While people are told police don’t have the resources to respond to burglaries.

A video out of the UK shows plain clothed police officers visiting a man’s home over “offensive” comments he posted on Facebook during a political discussion.

After getting involved in the online exchange, the man was surprised just a day later by cops turning up on his doorstep and asking him to make an appointment at his local police station.

The officers in the clip make it clear that their visit is because of a Facebook post, but refuse to specify what the man had posted and how it was against the law.

The man asked what he is potentially being charged with, to which the officer responds “malicious communications,” which he defines as making comments on an online forum “deemed to be offensive.”

The man denies that he ever said anything “malicious” and was merely engaging in political debate.

According to the description accompanying the video, the man was not arrested but he may have to appear in court.

People in the UK are routinely arrested and questioned by police for social media posts under the Malicious Communications Act.

The law states that it is illegal to send messages “for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety,” although this has been broadened to such a degree that anyone can claim “distress or anxiety” simply because they were offended.

In 2017, it was reported that British police had arrested 3,395 people for ‘offensive online comments’ in the space of a year.

Last year, Harry Miller, a former police officer himself, was interrogated by cops for 30 minutes merely for liking a tweet that was deemed to be offensive to the transgender community.

As we highlighted earlier this week, a 12-year-old boy faced national condemnation and police arrest after he sent racist comments to a multi-millionaire black Premier League footballer.

Police resources were also apparently used to investigate people who posted tweets critical of the coronavirus lockdown.

Meanwhile, violent crime continues to soar to record highs and people are being told that police may not be able to respond to crimes like burglaries because they don’t have the resources.

Argue with someone about politics on Facebook though and they’ll be round in a flash.

Rolling Stone Writer Calls For the Word “Pro-Life” to be Retired Because it’s ‘Racist’

Despite abortion killing a higher percentage of black than white babies.

Rolling Stone senior writer Jamil Smith has called for the word “pro-life” to be retired in a similar manner to the Washington Redskins because it’s ‘racist’ and ‘misogynistic’.

Yes, really.

“This point cannot be emphasized enough, or too often,” tweeted Smith. “The moniker ‘pro-life,’ so often used in the service of not just misogyny but also racism, should be retired right along with Aunt Jemima and the ‘Redskins’ team name.”

Smith deleted his tweet shortly after his comments started to receive a backlash.

This is by no means the first major call to have offensive words retired in recent months.

As we previously highlighted, the United Nations asserted back in May that people shouldn’t use politically incorrect terms like “boyfriend,” “girlfriend,” “husband” and “wife” in order to “help create a more equal world.”

The board game Scrabble also recently announced that it was banning 236 “bigoted” words for its international tournaments.

Earlier this year, a German panel of linguists which decides on a new word to ‘ban’ every year announced the ‘un-wording’ of the term “climate hysteria” because it undermines propaganda about man-made global warming.

“If Smith were a little brighter, the irony of his demand might make his own head explode,” writes Dave Blount. “Abortion kills a far higher percentage of black than white babies. Why would opposing it be racist?”

“The answer: because everything the radical left doesn’t like is racist. The word “racist” has no meaning other than to serve as a club to impose compliance. It is effective only because people are afraid of being canceled if they are branded a witch, I mean a racist.”

In attempting to retire the use of words, leftists are literally attempting to re-create 1984’s Newspeak dictionary, which shrank in size year after year in order to eliminate language and limit free thought and free speech, making it harder for the plebs to vocalize their opposition to The Party.
