A police force in the UK is “facilitating” a Black Lives Matter protest despite it violating coronavirus laws, while forbidding any form of counter-protest.

“We’ll be in attendance to facilitate a planned Black Lives Matter vigil at Keel Square in #Sunderland tonight,” tweeted Northumbria Police

“A Section 14 order is in place forbidding any other public assembly, including counter-protests, to ensure the public’s safety. Anyone with concerns should ring 101.”

The force’s promise to “ensure the public’s safety” is somewhat of an oxymoron given that current coronavirus lockdown laws state that gatherings of more than 6 people are illegal.

However, as we have learned, the law doesn’t apply to thousands of BLM protesters because apparently COVID-19 is woke and stays away whenever leftists gather in numbers to protest against perceived injustices.

The deliberate banning of counter-protests also clearly represents the police taking a political stance and appears to be in total violation of human rights laws.

“So, allowing assembly selectively on the basis of ‘political cause’. Is this not an infringement of Article 11 of the ECHR?” asked Emma Webb.

But who cares about trivial things like the law since Black Lives Matter is apparently above it?

A university in Pennsylvania is to remove the word ‘freedom’ from ID cards after a few students created a petition complaining that the word is offensive to minorities because it reminds them of ‘slavery’.

Robert Morris University in Pennsylvania now plans to change  its “Freedom Cards” to “RMU ID Cards,” Campus Reform reports after students created a petition that argued black students feel “dehumanized” by the term ‘freedom card’.

The term “has made minority students (black students in particular) feel like we are being dehumanized. Gifting us with IDs that grant us our ‘freedom’ is of extremely poor taste. Especially coming from a University that is named after a slave owner,” the petition claims.

“We would like to rename our Freedom Cards to something that is not insensitive,” it further demands.

It continues, “If Robert Morris University is the welcoming place that the other 76 percent of students know and love; we ask that these changes be made so that minority students can also feel that same pride in being a Colonial.”

It had only received 130 signatures when the RMU Dean of Students immediately caved, and announced that the name and design of the cards is to be changed.

Jonathan Potts, Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations at RMU, told Campus Reform that a name change of the card was already being discussed anyway:

“We had already been planning to redesign and rename our student, faculty, and staff identification cards to make them more widely recognized on campus and more easily communicate their purpose,” Potts said, adding that the school “nonetheless thought the time was right to communicate it to the students for whom it was a concern.”

Cambridge University has defended one its academics after she tweeted “white lives don’t matter,” despite the institution previously dismissing another academic who made far less controversial statements.

The controversy began when Dr Priyamvada Gopal, English academic and Churchill fellow, tweeted, “abolish whiteness” and “I’ll say it again. White Lives Don’t matter.”

Cambridge University swiftly issued a statement defending Gopal’s racist remark.

The University defends the right of its academics to express their own lawful opinions which others might find controversial and deplores in the strongest terms abuse and personal attacks. These attacks are totally unacceptable and must cease.

Media reporting on the incident has centered around alleged “abuse” Gopal has received off the back of a petition being launched to get her fired.

Apparently, the backlash to Gopal’s remark is more contentious than the racist nature of the remark itself.

Highlighting Cambridge University’s hypocrisy, the same institution previously investigated and dismissed sociologist and intelligence researcher Noah Carl after 500 academics signed a letter challenging Carl’s research on race and intelligence.

An editorial in The London Times commenting on Carl’s termination asserted that his “main offence seems to have been to challenge the “woke” left-wing orthodoxy.”

Cambridge University also previously rescinded its offer of a visiting fellowship to Jordan Peterson after a woke mob complained about his stance on political correctness and after he appeared in a photograph with a man wearing a t-shirt that said “I’m a proud Islamophobe.”

Apparently, Cambridge University is all for ‘offensive’ freedom of speech, but only if it’s being uttered by far-left radicals.

The petition to have Gopal fired has reached over 8,000 signatures.
