Police in Toledo, Ohio were forced to give people a different number to report citizens who were “not social distancing” after 911 lines were flooded with calls.

“If you have a concern about people not social distancing at bars and restaurants, please call the Lucas County Health Department at 419-213-4161 extension 4,” states a tweet from the Toledo Police Department.

The department had to clarify that the advice was given because too many people were calling 911 to try to report others.

“We are posting this because people are tying up the 911 lines to report others who are not socially distancing. Our goal is to provide the appropriate number for people to call instead of them calling 911,” said the department.

The coronavirus pandemic has been a golden age for the resurgence of the tattle-tale.

As we previously reported, a woman called called the police on a family because they were outside on their front yard weightlifting during the coronavirus lockdown.

Some Californians are also reportedly calling the authorities if they hear neighbors coughing or sneezing inside their own houses.

Karens across the city of Toledo must be gleefully rubbing their hands together at the prospect of being able to grass up wrongdoers to the authorities.

Video Shows Police Putting Chokehold on Woman For Violating Lockdown

Draconian enforcement of new rules continues in Australia.

A video out of Melbourne, Australia shows a police officer enforcing the city’s strict new lockdown law by putting a woman in a chokehold.

The state of Victoria’s new lockdown rules, which were introduced earlier this month, have produced what appear to be amongst the most draconian examples of police enforcement in the developed world.

A new clip shows a woman outside what appears to be a clothing store being put in a chokehold by a male police officer.

“What the fuck! Get off of me,” shouts the woman as she is grappled up against the wall.

After she kicks out a few times, the male officer then drags her to the ground by her throat.

“You’re fucked in the head, you’re fucked, what the hell are you doing to me?” asks the woman as the officer wrestles with her on the floor.

Last week we highlighted a similar case where a woman was left with severe bruising after being manhandled by officers for violating the lockdown.

Under the new rules, people are expected to adhere to a strict 8pm-5am curfew and police have the power to enter people’s homes without a warrant to enforce compliance spot checks.

As we previously reported, within moments of the new lockdown rules being announced, eyewitnesses said police surrounded residential tower blocks in Melbourne to prevent people from leaving.

However, instead of just handing out fines as would normally be expected, police officers in the region appear to be enforcing the law by physically restraining and arresting people.

Global Lockdowns Set to Plunge 100 Million Into Extreme Poverty

Response to COVID deadlier than COVID itself?

The impact of the global coronavirus lockdown is set to plunge 100 million people into extreme poverty, warns a new report by the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.

The report appears to pin the blame on COVID-19 itself for the economic impact, yet the actual culprit is discovered to be the “restrictions” put in place by governments in response to the pandemic.

From the report;

“With the virus and its restrictions, up to 100 million more people globally could fall into the bitter existence of living on just $1.90 a day, according to the World Bank. That’s “well below any reasonable conception of a life with dignity,” the United Nations special rapporteur on extreme poverty wrote this year. And it comes on top of the 736 million people already there, half of them in just five countries: Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Congo and Bangladesh.”

The report notes that the impact of the lockdown on the poor in countries like India was “so abrupt and punishing” that their Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, begged for forgiveness.

The report will stir up further debate as to whether the global lockdown will prove more deadly than COVID-19 itself, with extreme poverty being directly linked to death and shortened life spans. According to research published by Imperial College London and Johns Hopkins University, around 1.4 million people are expected to die from untreated TB infections due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Experts have also warned that hundreds of thousands or even millions of people could die in the longer term as a result of the lockdown preventing them from receiving treatment for cancer and other serious illnesses.

Given that many of those sunk into extreme poverty as a result of the lockdown live in sub-Saharan Africa, this could also exacerbate mass immigration from that region into Europe.

“It’s a timely reminder that the the main cost of the lockdowns favoured by liberal policy-makers across the world will not be people in the West, but those hovering just above the poverty line in the developing world,” writes Toby Young.

“Thanks to the misguided enthusiasm of Western governments for imprisoning entire populations in their homes, thereby triggering a global recession, tens of millions of people will die of starvation in low-income countries.”
