Report: Universities All Across America Still Have Chinese Propaganda Centers

“They’re exploiting the very open research and development environment that we have”

Many universities throughout America are still allowing what have been described as Chinese propaganda centers to operate on their campuses, despite warnings from intelligence officials that the communist state is using them to infiltrate US society and indoctrinate Americans.

Campus Reform reports that multiple Chinese-funded Confucius Institutes remain in operation, even as US lawmakers seek to hold China accountable for its handling of the coronavirus outbreak.

The report notes that “more than 75 Confucius Institutes are still in operation in the U.S., most of them on college campuses.”

From Maine to Florida to Kansas to California, these centers claim to educate American students about Chinese language and culture, and administrators who run the campuses on which they operate appear to believe the same country that claims to have fewer coronavirus deaths than the U.S, despite its population being more than three times the size of the U.S. population.

Based on data from the National Association of Scholars, along with records maintained by Campus Reform, the interactive map below shows the locations where Confucius Institutes still operate. Hover your cursor over each dot to reveal the name of each college or school that currently hosts one of these centers.

The stated aim of the Confucius Institutes is to promote Chinese language and culture, support local Chinese teaching internationally, and facilitate cultural exchanges. However, US intelligence agencies have previously labeled the organisations as a national security threat, and many universities have since trashed the programs.

In congressional testimony in 2018, FBI Director Christopher Wray warned that “The level of naïveté on the part of the academic sector about this creates its own issues. They’re exploiting the very open research and development environment that we have, which we all revere. But they’re taking advantage of it.”

In January, the Department of Justice also arrested a professor at Harvard, as well as two Chinese nationals for reportedly acting as foreign agents.

Congressional Republicans have also expressed concerns that China is attempting to hinder US coronavirus research through such infiltration of US universities.

Ranking GOP members across seven House committees delivered a letter to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos this week that warns Beijing is indoctrinating American students.

Last year President Donald Trump signed the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act which proposed an ultimatum to universities receiving financial assistance from the Pentagon: close the Chinese propaganda center on campus or lose funding. Since that time, at least 49 schools have closed their Confucius Institute, according to Human Rights Watch.

The problem extends beyond the US, with European officials also expressing concerns that China is using the programs to infiltrate and spy on other countries. Some nations have outright banned the Chinese from setting up the institutes at their universities.

UN Human Rights Chiefs Demands US Takes “Serious Action” to Stop Killing of Unarmed African-Americans

“Procedures must change,” says Michelle Bachelet.

The UN Human Rights Chief has demanded that authorities in the United States take “serious action” to stop the police killings of unarmed African-Americans following the death of George Floyd.

46-year-old Floyd died on May 25th after Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for at least seven minutes, an incident that was caught on camera and caused outrage.

Numerous stores, businesses and even an affordable housing block in Minneapolis were looted and burned to the ground by rioters last night in response to the killing.

The United Nations’ Michelle Bachelet issued a statement today calling for immediate action.

“The US authorities must take serious action to stop such killings, and to ensure justice is done when they do occur,” Bachelet said. “Procedures must change, prevention systems must be put in place, and above all police officers who resort to excessive use of force should be charged and convicted for the crimes committed.”

Bachelet’s demand won’t find much currency amongst many on the right, who will see it as a globalist body trying to interfere in the internal affairs of the United States.

But her words will be welcomed by many on the left who assert that black people are being indiscriminately targeted by white police officers.

However, as Candace Owens pointed out, the stats don’t back up that claim.

Elon Musk Says He ‘Sympathizes’ With Anti-Globalist Movement

“We don’t want ever want everywhere to be the same.”

During his appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast, Elon Musk said he sympathized with the anti-globalization movement because “we don’t ever want everywhere to be the same.”

The context of the conversation was how civilizations rise and fall and are negatively affected by hive mind thinking, a concept Musk referred to as the “mind virus.”

“I do think that the globalization that we have at the memesphere – there’s not enough isolation between countries or regions. If there’s a mind virus, that mind virus can infect too much of the world,” said Musk.

“I actually sort of sympathize with the anti-globalization people because we don’t ever want everywhere to be the same for sure and we need some kind of mind viral immunity,” he remarked, adding, “That’s a bit concerning.”

The Tesla founder clarified that he was talking about a concept that “happens right now” and not in the future, suggesting he may have been referring to the coronavirus panic.

“When I’m talking about the mind virus, I’m talking about a concept that infects people’s minds,” said Musk, describing it as a “wrongheaded idea that goes viral in an idea sense.”

As we previously highlighted, Musk has become a target of the establishment after he called for the coronavirus lockdown to be lifted.

The Tesla founder asserted at the beginning of March that the panic behind COVID-19 was “dumb.”

He briefly discussed the issue elsewhere in the Rogan interview, asserting that the mortality rate of coronavirus turned out to be vastly lower than health authorities initially claimed.

EU Defends Bowing To Communist Chinese Censors

The EU rolled over twice for China’s communist government, altering a letter by 27 ambassadors and a report on the coronavirus to soften criticism.

The EU has attempted to defend the fact that it allowed the communist Chinese government to censor a letter it wrote before it was published in a Chinese newspaper, erasing a sentence that stated the coronavirus originated in China.

The letter, co-written by the bloc’s 27 ambassadors, was published in China’s English-language newspaper China Daily on Tuesday. However, the EU agreed to allow censors to remove the sentence, which stated “But the outbreak of the coronavirus, in China, and its subsequent spread to the rest of the world over the past three months…”

“China has state-controlled media. There is censorship, that’s a fact,” EU foreign affairs spokesperson Virginie Battu-Henriksson told reporters in an attempt to justify bowing to the Chinese censors.

Henriksson suggested that the EU reluctantly agreed to the amendment because it was better than not being able to communicate with a Chinese audience on ‘key EU issues’, including climate change, human rights and the pandemic response.

It is the second time in the space of two weeks that the EU has rolled over for Chinese censorship, having previously softened criticism of the communist regime in a report documenting how governments have pushed “disinformation” about the coronavirus pandemic.

The European Union was set to issue the report until Chinese officials “quickly contacted the European Union’s representatives in Beijing to try to kill the report,” according to two diplomats. The EU then “diluted the focus on China, a vital trading partner.”

German conservative politician Norbert Roettgen criticised the EU’s actions, stating “I am shocked not once but twice.”

“First the EU ambassadors generously adopt Chinese narratives and then the EU representative on top accepts Chinese censorship of the joint op-ed.” he added.

“This story beggars belief,” another EU diplomat told Politico, asking “What is the point in letting yourself be censored?”

The source urged that it was an “embarrassment” for the EU, adding: “The cost of taking a stand and defending what you believe in would have been very small.”
