Poll: Majority of Brits Uncomfortable About Going to Bars, Restaurants

Even after lockdown ends.

A new poll has found that even after the lockdown ends, a majority of Brits will still feel uncomfortable about going to bars and attending large social gatherings.

The survey by Ipsos Mori shows that 61% would be uncomfortable visiting bars or restaurants, with the same figure feeling uncomfortable about using public transport.

The poll also found that 67% would be uncomfortable attending large public gatherings such as sport or music events.

A majority still uncomfortable about sending their children to school despite strong evidence suggesting children cannot pass the coronavirus on to adults.

The poll numbers emphasize why the UK government has been hesitant to announce when lockdown measures will end, despite numerous other European countries having already done so.

Many people have been surprised by how compliant and obedient the British population has been in response to the lockdown, with many of them still afraid to go outside.

This is the case despite initial estimates that coronavirus could kill up to 500,000 people in the UK proving to be grossly exaggerated.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that almost 200,000 Brits have used snitch hotlines to report their neighbors and others for violating lockdown and social distancing rules.

Government Adviser Who Warned of 200,000 COVID Cases a Day Faces Scrutiny After Dramatic Fall in UK Infections

Ferguson got it wrong again.

Published

on

Professor Neil Ferguson, the controversial epidemiologist who predicted there would be as many as 200,000 COVID cases a day in the UK if restrictions were lifted, is facing scrutiny after infections continued to drop for the 6th day in a row.

The day before so-called ‘freedom day’ in England, where most mask mandates and social distancing restrictions were lifted, Ferguson was asked by the BBC’s Andrew Marr where the country was heading as a result.

“It’s very difficult to say for certain, but I think 100,000 cases a day is almost inevitable,” said Ferguson, adding, “The real question is do we get to double that or higher? We could get to 200,000 cases a day.”

The professor went on to warn of “major disruption” to the NHS and the interruption of elective surgeries.

Ferguson is being proven wrong by the statistics once again, which today showed there were 24,950 new coronavirus cases, the sixth consecutive daily fall.

“Lockdown zealots will attribute this decline to the vaccines, but that begs the question of why they weren’t confident the vaccines would prevent cases from surging when they predicted armageddon last Monday?” asks Toby Young.

As Christopher Snowdon highlights, the scientists who claimed England’s unlocking represented “a threat to world” are also being proven spectacularly wrong. SAGE government advisers who claimed that relaxing restrictions was “a dangerous and unethical experiment” also face embarrassment.

The issue once again begs the question; Why does the government continue to follow advice given by arch-lockdown advocates who have got it wrong time and time again?

Don’t forget that it was Ferguson who infamously warned that half a million Brits would die without a draconian lockdown, despite the fact that countries like Sweden which didn’t impose lockdown had similar waves and infection rates.

Not only has Ferguson repeatedly proven himself to be totally unreliable (after having already disgraced himself during the 2001 foot and mouth outbreak), but he infamously betrayed what he really thought about the severity of the pandemic via his own behavior.

During the first lockdown, when Ferguson himself was predicting up to half a million deaths, the professor took the threat of the virus so seriously, he allowed his mistress to violate the rules by traveling back and forth across London to continue the pair’s sordid affair.

Survey Finds Most Brits Still Wearing Face Masks Despite No Legal Requirement

Young people most likely to have reduced their usage.

A new survey has found that Brits in most age groups are still wearing face masks at the same rate after July 19 despite there being no legal requirement to do so.

A YouGov polls finds that only people in the youngest age group, 18-24-year-olds, have significantly reduced the wearing of a face covering since ‘freedom day’, when all restrictions were supposedly lifted.

People aged 65+ actually increased usage of wearing face masks (83%) after the legal requirement was dropped while those aged 50-64 and 25-49 used them at roughly the same rate.

“With young people less likely to be fully vaccinated (21% according to our latest tracker data), and more likely to have disabled their NHS COVID-19 app, the results highlight the increased risk young people are putting themselves – and others – in,” asserts YouGov.

However, the efficacy of face masks still remains dubious at best, with one peer-reviewed study involving 6,000 participants in Denmark revealing that “there was no statistically significant difference between those who wore masks and those who did not when it came to being infected by Covid-19,” the Spectator reported.

As previously highlighted, Dr Colin Axon, a SAGE advisor for the government, dismissed face masks as “comfort blankets” that do virtually nothing, noting that the COVID-19 virus particle is up to 5,000 times smaller than the holes in the mask.

“The small sizes are not easily understood but an imperfect analogy would be to imagine marbles fired at builders’ scaffolding, some might hit a pole and rebound, but obviously most will fly through,” Axon said.

The fact that many Brits are continuing to wear face masks despite these doubts underscores how successful the British government was in using behavioral experts to terrifying the public into compliance.

It was also revealed today that university students in the UK could need to be fully vaccinated in order to attend lectures and stay in halls of residence during the upcoming academic year.

As we highlighted earlier, some people reacted to mask restrictions being lifted by virtue signaling even more aggressively about wearing face coverings.

Germany: Vaccinated “Will Have More Freedom” as Unvaxxed Banned From Cinemas, Restaurants

New measures would make vaccine de facto mandatory.

Published

Authorities in Germany have indicated that unvaccinated people could be banned from cinemas and restaurants and that those who have taken the jab will have “more freedom.”

Angela Merkel’s chief of staff Helge Braun told Bild that if cases keep rising, new rules will be brought in that will ensure the unvaccinated are deprived of basic lifestyle activities.

“The number of new infections is increasing even faster than in the previous waves. That worries me very much,” said Braun.

“If we have a high rate of infection despite our testing procedures then the unvaccinated will have to reduce their contacts,” she added.

Braun went on to state that unvaccinated people, even if they test negative for COVID, would not be allowed to go to venues like restaurants, cinemas, or stadiums, because “the risk to everyone else is too high.”

Authorities are warning that Germany’s economy cannot handle a wave of people staying at home while urging employers to aggressively promote vaccination to their employees.

However, the deputy head of the Free Democratic Party, Wolfgang Kubicki, warned that such measures would mean the vaccination had been made mandatory, labeling it the de facto “introduction of compulsory vaccination through the back door.”

Armin Laschet, Merkel’s potential successor, said that the announcement was primarily about coercing Germans into taking the shot.

“In a free country, there are civil liberties not only for certain groups,” he said.

Germany’s plans are similar to those in France, Italy and the UK, all three countries that have seen massive protests against the measures.
