NYT Story That Claims US Officials ‘Pressured’ Spies To Link Lab To Coronavirus Is Based On One Person’s Comments From January

It’s fake news… again.

A New York Times story published Thursday claimed that Trump officials have unduly pressured intelligence agencies to link the Wuhan bio-lab to the coronavirus outbreak, yet it simultaneously admits that the President has done no such thing and is based mostly around one comment made by a National Security Council official in January.

The story was cited by mainstream sources and leftist websites ad-nauseam Thursday night, as some kind of proof that the Chinese lab has nothing to do with the virus outbreak.

It was also used to suggest that US intelligence agencies have all but dismissed the notion, when that is simply not the case.

The Times piece cites ‘current and former officials’, without naming any, and even admits that those sources “did not say whether Mr. Trump himself…has pressured the intelligence agencies.”

Indeed, the only named source in the piece is Anthony Ruggiero, the head of the National Security Council’s bureau tracking weapons of mass destruction.

The Times claims that Ruggiero “expressed frustration during one videoconference in January that the C.I.A. was unable to get behind any theory of the outbreak’s origin.”

That’s literally it. One comment from someone in January.

Of course, the leftist blogs didn’t actually read beyond the headline, instead concocting their own posts proclaiming that Trump pressured intelligence officials to blame the Wuhan lab, according to the New York Times.

Meanwhile, US intelligence issued a statement saying that American agencies are still investigating the lab leak theory, while Secretary of State Mike Pompeo again reiterated that the Communist Chinese government is refusing to allow the US access to the facilities.

At the same time China, which continues to claim that the virus was intentionally released by the US military, suggested that the US has a ‘history of bacteriological warfare’.

A propaganda piece in China’s state newspaper China Daily falsely claimed that the United States used biological weapons during the Korean War.

“[T]he media outlets that prop up a blame game by the world’s single hegemonic power are forgetting that it was the U.S. that is alleged to have engaged in bacteriological warfare against Korean and Chinese soldiers during the Korean War (1950-53) and against the Vietnamese (1955-75),” Rod P. Kapunan, a “Manila-based political analyst,” wrote.

Kapunan also claimed that “It was the US and some other Western powers that framed people in Iraq and Syria for alleged possession of chemical weapons.”

“Yet the country that was the first to confront the coronavirus and the first to successfully combat the new challenge through its own initiative is today being condemned as the cause of the pandemic,” the piece goes on.

It also insinuates that “U.S. politicians feel no shame in ignoring the truth” and that America is experiencing “failure to effectively cope with the pandemic while China manages to curb domestic cases.”

NYC to Impose COVID Checkpoints to Enforce Quarantine Order

Mayor Bill de Blasio in new authoritarian move.

Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced that he will set up COVID checkpoints around New York City in an attempt to catch anyone who flouts their 14 day quarantine order.

Anyone arriving in NYC from 34 states and Puerto Rico is subject to a strict 14 day stay at home order and faces large fines if they violate the rule.

That will now be enforced with manned coronavirus checkpoints where those caught violating their quarantine will be penalized.

From NBC New York;

“Starting Wednesday, the city will implement COVID-19 checkpoints at key entry points into the city, de Blasio said. They will vary daily, though the mayor said one will appear at Penn Station on Thursday. Another is planned for Port Authority.”

“The city hopes to implement “full-fledged checkpoints” where viable and hold them at other locations where they’re unlikely to create major traffic backups. De Blasio says the city stands ready to assist travelers who need a safe place to isolate for 14 days. The test and trace team has already made nearly 90,000 calls to travelers affected by the quarantine order and sent nearly 21,000 texts.”

While de Blasio threatens people traveling around NYC with astronomical fines that could run as high as $10,000, he has simultaneously overseen an emptying of prisons that has led to skyrocketing crime across New York.

As we highlighted last month, shootings soared by a whopping 277 per cent compared to the same week last year. In June, it was reported that there had been 38 murders over the last 28 days up until June 14, twice as many as the previous year.

Despite soaring crime, the Mayor also devoted no fewer than 27 police officers to guard a Black Lives Matter mural outside Trump Tower.

One method to avoid interrogation at coronavirus checkpoints may be to state that you have attended a BLM protest.

“The hundreds of contact tracing workers hired by the city under de Blasio’s new “test and trace” campaign have been instructed not to ask anyone who’s tested positive for COVID-19 whether they recently attended a demonstration,” reported The City back in June.

Lest we forget that de Blasio also urged New Yorkers to “get out on the town despite coronavirus” and visit the cinema as late as March 2nd.

Survey: Americans Think Coronavirus Has Killed 30 Million People in the U.S., 225 Times Higher Than Actual Figure

Results suggest media alarmism has fanned the flames of hysteria.

A new survey by research firm Kekst CNC has found that on average, people in the U.S. think 9 per cent of the population, around 30 million people, have died from coronavirus when the actual figure is less than 155,000.

The survey results generally across six countries, including America, found that, “People think coronavirus is more widespread, and more deadly, than official figures show.”

In Sweden and the UK in particular, people vastly overestimate the number of lives COVID-19 has claimed.

From the survey;

“Despite relatively low incidence rates compared to earlier in the pandemic in most countries (with the exception of the U.S.), people significantly over-estimate the spread and fatality rate of the disease. In Sweden and the UK for example, the public think 6-7% of people have died from coronavirus – around one hundred times the actual death rate based on official figures.”

In other words, people in the UK think coronavirus is 100 times more deadly than it actually is.

The numbers for America are even more out of sync with reality.

The survey found that Americans think 9% of the population in the U.S. have died from coronavirus. This percentage would equate to almost 30 million COVID-19 deaths. The actual death toll currently stands at just under 155,000 deaths.

Americans’ estimation of coronavirus deaths is therefore a whopping is 225 higher than the actual number of people who have died.

null

People in the U.S. also believe that 20% of Americans have had coronavirus, 20 times higher than the number of confirmed cases.

The survey also revealed that across all countries, “people think 5-12% of people currently have coronavirus.” In reality, even at the height of the pandemic, in England for example, only 0.27% of the community population had COVID-19.

This highlights once again how media alarmism surrounding the spread and lethality of the virus has caused many people to become hysterical and overly paranoid about COVID-19.

In reality, the 2017-18 flu season in the UK claimed more lives than coronavirus while ONS statistics show that current overall deaths are below the five year average for the sixth week in a row.

As we highlighted on Monday, in some cases this has resulted in bizarre behavior, such as people literally leaping out of the way of other people walking their way and people being “too scared” to go outside.

The innumerable incidents involving aggressive confrontations and in some cases violent attacks on others for the sin of not social distancing or wearing a mask can also be partly explained by media scaremongering coverage of the pandemic.

Robot Uses Face Scanning AI to Ask People to Wear a Mask

Mask compliance gets creepier.

A robot normally used to provide customer service now has a new mission; Scanning your face with AI technology to check whether you’re wearing a mask and asking you to put one on.

With masks now becoming mandatory in many countries inside supermarkets, public buildings and transport systems, SoftBank Robotics Europe has reprogrammed its “cutesy” Pepper android to help enforce the new rules.

A video demonstration shows the robot scanning people’s faces and then telling individuals not wearing a mask to put one on, while thanking those who are already wearing them.

“Using an image recognition AI and Single Shot Detector, Pepper can scan the faces of up to five people at once,” reports Engadget.

“On Pepper’s tablet, a green circle will appear around an image of anyone wearing a mask, and a red circle will appear around the image of anyone without a mask. Pepper can thank people for wearing masks or remind someone to put a face covering on.”

The company asserts that no personal data is used or stored, although face scanning technology is widely used by both companies and governments in dictatorial states like China to enforce compliance and punish social credit score dissenters.

The efficacy of masks continues to be hotly debated, with experts in both the Netherlands and Sweden saying they are pointless while others arguing that they may even help spread the disease because wearers touch them often and are more likely to ignore social distancing.

In a wider context, the mask has become a symbol of compliance while also facilitating many to virtue signal and express righteously indignant and sometimes violent vitriol towards refusniks.
