UK: Police Officer Tells Family They Can’t Be on Their Own Front Garden

“The virus does not stop on your front garden.”

A video shows a police officer in the United Kingdom telling a family that they can’t be outside on their own front garden in another example of the erroneous enforcement of draconian lockdown rules.

The clip of the incident, which occurred in Eastwood, Rotherham yesterday, features a female officer from South Yorkshire Police warning the man filming the encounter, Mr Connell, to “stay indoors because of Covid-19” and that “the virus does not stop on your front garden.”

“You cannot come on your front garden. I’m recording [this video], you cannot come on your front garden,” states the officer, who is clearly oblivious to the law, which states that people can use both their front and back gardens.

However, when she is challenged on it, she asserts, “I cannot speak for anybody else. You know when you look around and there’s nobody out? It’s because you can’t come out.”

The woman also chastised the man for wanting to visit the supermarket twice, claiming he had already been and bought soft drinks, which she implies is a non-essential purchase.

“I’m asking you to go indoors, are you refusing to go indoors?” asks the officer, before leaving.

After the video was posted on social media, South Yorkshire Police issued an apology.

“This encounter was well-intentioned but ill-informed and we’d like to apologise for the way it was handled,” said the force, adding that they had spoken to the female officer.

“This is clearly not right,” remarked Alexander Stafford, the MP for Rother Valley. “Whilst cannot see full context of the video, people are of course allowed to be in their gardens – front or back – and should be allowed to continue to do. This is clearly an overreach!”

With the United Kingdom set to be bathed in warm sunshine over the Easter weekend, authorities have indicated that they will get tougher in punishing people who flout lockdown and social distancing rules.

As we reported yesterday, another police force even warned that they would start checking people’s shopping baskets for non-essential items, although were later forced to backtrack.

Such situations are occurring across the Atlantic too, as we highlighted with a story about a neighbor who called the police on a man for weightlifting in his own front yard.

ABC’s Chief News Correspondent Tries to ‘Mask Shame’ John Roberts, Gets Owned

ABC’s Chief News Correspondent Jonathan Karl tried to ‘mask shame’ Fox News’ John Roberts, only for someone to point out to Karl that he didn’t wear a mask when he was out in public last week.

“Almost everybody in the Rose Garden is wearing a mask — almost everybody,” tweeted Karl, along with four images of news reporters in the Rose Garden all wearing masks apart from Roberts.

However, Roberts was in fact in possession of a mask and had only briefly removed it.

But that wasn’t the most embarrassing comeback aimed at Karl. Turns out he’s been in an even more public area while failing to wear a mask.

“You didn’t wear a mask on Cinco de Mayo to pick up your tacos from Mi Vida. Why not?” asked Luke Mahoney.

“Is there a different standard for the media? Are there some places we have to wear masks and others we don’t?”

This is more proof that mask wearers are wearing the face coverings as a status symbol to signal their own virtue, allowing them to judge people who choose not to wear masks, while their own behavior proves them to be total hypocrites who don’t actually care about spreading the virus.

Meanwhile, another reporter wearing a mask removed it while asking President Trump a question, defeating the whole purpose of wearing the mask.

Mask Wearers Are Littering Streets and Countryside With Used PPE

Despite many of them being sanctimonious about stopping the spread of COVID-19.

Anecdotal evidence suggests many people who wear masks to protect against coronavirus are discarding them as litter on the street and countryside with little regard for safe disposal.

A big controversy in the UK ever since the start of the coronavirus lockdown has been the apparent shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE), including face masks.

However, a woman in Lincolnshire told LockdownSceptics.org that used PPE is quickly becoming trash and is littering the environment.

“Every time I go out on my bicycle round here I find bits of PPE scattered by the side of the road, usually the giveaway blue gloves,” she said. “Here’s today’s find – a PPE mask evidently hurled out of a car window and decorating the verge near the village of Ropsley. Who’s the culprit? No idea, but it’s presumably a health worker of some sort who’s quite happy to chuck used PPE into the general environment rather than dispose of it safely.”

The website also reports on another reader in Malta who has noticed a similar trend.

“The first day we were allowed out everywhere was nice and clean and tidy. But every morning I go out there are masks and gloves littering the sides of the roads and in the hedgerows. I wonder what on earth goes through these twats’ heads. Clearly not very much,” he said.

The irony here is of course obvious; Many mask-wearers are very sanctimonious about how they are playing a key role in stopping the spread of COVID-19 and will chastise others who they perceive as violating social distancing rules.

However, when it comes to safely disposing of the masks, which would obviously be vital to reduce the risk of transmitting the disease, they choose instead to just discard them on the ground.

It appears that for some, the idea of obeying authority and enforcing it against others is more appealing than actually trying to prevent the spread of the virus.

Thousands of People Are Dying at Home Due to the Lockdown

Excess deaths due to patients avoiding hospitals over coronavirus fears.

A Guardian analysis has found that there have been thousands of excess deaths of people at home in the UK due to the lockdown.

“The data shows 8,196 more deaths at home in England, Wales and Scotland compared with the five-year average for this time of year, including 6,546 non-Covid deaths,” reports the newspaper.

“It also indicates a drop in non-Covid deaths in hospital, however, leading experts to conclude that many who would ordinarily have been admitted to a ward and died there are instead dying at home.”

According to Jason Oke, a statistician with the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford, one explanation for the numbers is that, “People are dying of other causes that would not have happened under normal conditions – and are collateral damage of the lockdown.”

Another analysis suggests there could have already been around 10,000 excess deaths in the UK compared with previous years.

It’s a similar story in Italy, where there have already been 11,600 excess deaths due to seriously sick people avoiding hospitals.

“Data from other countries has shown delayed presentation in patients with heart attacks during the pandemic, either because people don’t want to burden the health service at the current time, or because of fear of catching Covid-19,” said Prof Andrew Goddard. “It is critical that patients who are worried they may be having a heart attack or stroke should call 999.”

As we previously highlighted, a data analyst consortium in South Africa found that the economic consequences of the country’s lockdown will lead to 29 times more people dying than the coronavirus itself.

Professor Richard Sullivan also warned that there will be more excess cancer deaths in the UK than total coronavirus deaths due to people’s access to screenings and treatment being restricted as a result of the lockdown.

His comments were echoed by Peter Nilsson, a professor of internal medicine and epidemiology at Lund University, who said, “It’s so important to understand that the deaths of COVID-19 will be far less than the deaths caused by societal lockdown when the economy is ruined.”

Experts have also warned that there will be 1.4 million deaths from untreated TB infections due to the lockdown.

If the lockdown itself will end up costing significantly more lives than had countries followed the example of Sweden, which didn’t lockdown, then what was the point of the lockdown?
