Gun Sales Surge After Mass Shootings, Trump Gun Control Promise

Published

“People are realizing that even a trip to Walmart isn’t safe these days”

In the wake of the shootings in Dayton and El Paso, and ahead of potential gun control legislation being enacted by President Trump, firearms sales have surged, as Americans look to protect themselves.

The Washington Examiner reports that gun shops are seeing an uptick in business, particularly from first time buyers.

“While we have seen a measured rise in sale of certain tactical rifles and accessories this week, most customers are looking for concealed carry handguns,” said Justin Anderson, Marketing Director of Hyatt Guns in Charlotte, N.C.

“Just this week we have fielded hundreds of calls from people that have never purchased a gun before. Our concealed carry training classes are filling up quickly.” Anderson added.

“People are realizing that even a trip to Walmart isn’t safe these days and they want to be able to protect themselves.”

“Remember that nothing stops a lunatic bent on carnage better than a law abiding citizen with a gun. I continue to urge people to get a gun, get trained with that gun, and carry, always,” he added.

FBI Figures show another jump in purchases and background checks, with the National Instant Criminal Background Check System showing that 2019 is likely to be the second biggest year since 2016, when sales soared in anticipation of Hillary Clinton winning the election.

The figures show that there have been close to 16 million background checks in the first seven months of the year.

After President Trump said Monday that he was mulling legislation for stronger background checks, stocks of gun companies also surged, while the market more broadly slumped.

The Washington Post claims that Trump “has repeatedly told lawmakers and aides in private conversations that he is open to endorsing extensive background checks.”

The report claims that “the president has discussed with aides the idea of a Rose Garden bill-signing ceremony for gun-control legislation,” and states that Trump has also asked lawyers about what he could enact through an executive order.

Trump’s waivering on the issue has prompted a warning from the NRA.

Video: BBC Anchor Claims Arguing Against Surveillance State “Was A Fair Talking Point In The 1990s, But People Are Over That Now”

“We’ve moved on since then. Cameras are everywhere.”

An arrogant BBC News anchor lectured a privacy advocate Tuesday who argued that a rise in violent crime, particularly against women, cannot be countered by eroding freedom and further empowering the surveillance state.

Following the announcement that police in the UK are setting up a scheme to use CCTV cameras to watch women at night to make them ‘feel safer’, Madeline Stone of the privacy advocate group Big Brother Watch argued that there are already masses of surveillance cameras everywhere and they do not make people any safer or prevent crime.

Stone emphasised that adding more cameras strips away privacy and is in no way a solution to the problem, including harassment of and violence against women.

“But the woman is asking for the camera to be on them, so this is not a breach of civil liberties,” the anchor responded, referring to the scheme which uses an opt-in app.

Stone replied that having an anonymous stranger tracking a woman’s movements via a camera isn’t going to help, but was continuously interrupted by the anchor who repeatedly stated “if it’s something that’s going to make you feel safer,” it will be welcomed.

“Isn’t this really that Big Brother Watch is against all cameras watching us?” the anchor lectured.

He then declared “I mean this was a fair talking point in the 1990s, but we’ve moved on since then, people are over that now.”

“Cameras are everywhere,” he stated, arguing that it’s pointless to stand against the surveillance state.

“Cameras are on women anyway, whether they ask them to be or not,” the anchor further arrogantly declared.

Yes, that’s the WHOLE FUCKING POINT of the problem mate.

Piers Morgan Says Media Knows Identity of Police Officer Who Shot Ashli Babbitt

But are withholding it due to pressure from authorities.

Journalist Piers Morgan says the media knows the identity of the Capitol police officer who shot Ashli Babbitt dead on January 6 but isn’t reporting it due to pressure from authorities.

Babbitt was one of five people killed during the raid of the Capitol Building. Video footage of the incident showed the US Air Force veteran attempting to get through a set of locked doors inside the building before being shot in the neck.

The identity of the officer responsible for killing Babbitt remains unknown to this day.

However, journalist Piers Morgan revealed today that media outlets are fully aware of his name and background but are fearful of releasing the information due to warnings from law enforcement.

“I know who it is,” writes Morgan. “I know his name, his age, his rank, his family status and his service record.”

I know all this because DailyMail.com journalists did their job and found out, as I am sure have journalists from other news organizations.

Although I’m equally sure that many prestigious left-leaning news organizations – who ought to know better – have probably not even bothered.

Nobody has reported the information yet because there has been enormous pressure put on the media from the Capitol Police and the officer’s legal team not to do so for fear it would endanger his life.

Morgan went on to describe continued efforts to keep the officer’s identity a secret “a shameful failure of public transparency and justice.”

Babbitt’s family have also been rebuffed in efforts to find out the officer’s name, with her widower Aaron Babbitt being forced to file a lawsuit claiming the Metropolitan Police Department failed to comply with a Freedom of Information Act request.

Critics have contrasted the case to the death of George Floyd. Despite officer Derek Chauvin’s life clearly being put under risk, his identity was quickly revealed to the public.

President Donald Trump has recently used his platform to draw attention to the situation, while also asserting that he personally knows the identity of the officer involved.

“People are being treated unbelievably unfairly when you look at people in prison, and nothing happens to antifa, and they burn down cities and killed people,” Trump said Wednesday during a press conference. “There were no guns in the Capitol … except for the gun that shot Ashli Babbitt, and nobody knows who that man were [sic].”
