Congressman Urges FBI to List Antifa as an Extremist Organization

“Antifa employs violence to coerce Americans into silence.”

Published

Congressman Jim Banks (R-IN) has sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray requesting that Antifa be listed as an extremist organization.

“Antifa employs violence to coerce Americans into silence,” said Banks in a statement, adding, “To my great surprise, we are witnessing similar style tactics right here in our country. The FBI must take this threat seriously.”

The letter cites numerous violent attacks by Antifa, including the attempted firebombing of an ICE detention center in Tacoma, Washington and the assault of journalist Andy Ngo in Portland.

Banks wants the FBI to add a subsection to its website listing of “extremist ideologies” that “properly encompasses Antifa’s political goals as openly broadcasted by its leaders on their social media platforms.”

Last month, Senators Ted Cruz and Bill Cassidy also introduced a resolution calling for Antifa to be designated a “domestic terrorist organization.”

“Antifa is a terrorist organization composed of hateful, intolerant radicals who pursue their extreme agenda through aggressive violence. Time and time again their actions have demonstrated that their central purpose is to inflict harm on those who oppose their views,” tweeted Cruz after introducing the resolution.

Last week, President Trump also tweeted that he was considering having Antifa declared a terrorist organization.

Back in July 2017, the Department of Homeland Security in New Jersey officially listed Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization after a rash of violent attacks by the group targeting supporters of Donald Trump.

The Honorable Christopher Wray

Director Federal Bureau of Investigation

935 Pennsylvania Avenue,

NW Washington, D.C. 20535-000 1

Dear Director Wray:

I write to you today out of concern for the health of America’s political discourse. In the past year, members of the Antifa movement have gained public attention for a series of criminal acts; including terrorist attacks, violent assaults, vandalism, and intimidation.

On June 19, 2019, a mob of Antifa members violently assaulted journalist, Andy Ngo, as he reported on opposing political protests in Portland, Oregon. Mr. Ngo suffered serious head injuries, including bleeding in his brain. The long-term consequences of his injuries remain uncertain, but Mr. Ngo continues to experience negative symptoms, including memory loss, and cognitive communication deficit.

On July 13, 2019, Antifa member Willem Van Spronsen threw firebombs at an ICE detention center in Tacoma, Washington, before attempting to ignite the facility’s large propane tank. He was shot dead by police at the scene. Seattle Antifascist Action described him as “a martyr who gave his life to the struggle against fascism”.

In June of 2018 Antifa circulated a list of 1,600 ICE workers, evidently to identify potential targets for its members.

In 2017, during the March 4 Trump rally in Berkeley California, 10 rally-goers were injured, and 7 protestors were arrested.

The list of criminal and dangerous Antifa activity goes on and on; but the point is concise. Antifa employs violence to coerce Americans into silence.

Recently, Congress has begun to address the threat posed by Antifa. My colleagues Rep. Mark Green, and Rep. Mark Walker are introducing a resolution condemning Antifa. On July 18, 2019, Senators Bill Cassidy, M.D. and Ted Cruz introduced legislation to declare Antifa a domestic terrorist organization. It’s clear to me that Antifa meets the definition of domestic terrorism outlined in section 802 of the Patriot Act and has earned this designation.

While the FBI declines to keep a public or official list of domestic terrorist organizations, it does outline extremist ideologies that often lead to domestic terrorism. The list, accessible on the FBI website, does not include a category under which Antifa could reasonably be counted. Given the rise in terrorist activities by Antifa members, and the organization’s presence in several major American cities, it’s my suggestion that the FBI add a subsection that properly encompasses Antifa’s political goals as openly broadcasted by its leaders on their social media platforms.

This subsection would be fittingly titled “Anti-1st Amendment Extremists.” Antifa often describes itself as a ‘counter protest’ organization with the stated goal of suppressing fascist speech, political demonstrations, and media. Conveniently, Antifa has redefined fascism to include anyone who disagrees with their opaque political agenda. What that agenda is exactly is imprecise by design—their central aim is to silence any and all moderate and conservative politics or ideologies.

I urge you to take this simple first step towards protecting our First Amendment rights from those that would destroy them. I look forward to your response regarding this request and other action the FBI is prepared to take in light of these aggressions.

Sincerely,

Jim Banks

Member of Congress

Obamas To Release Anti-Trump Movie On Netflix

Election meddling

Ahead of the 2020 election, the Obamas are set to release a documentary via Netflix that has been described by Politico as anti-Trump.

The movie, scheduled to be released this week, titled American Factory, focuses on the economy in the heartland of the US.

The review states:

The documentary, which debuts on Netflix on August 21, never mentions President Donald Trump by name—but its message is clear: Trump’s promise to reinvigorate the industrial heartland is going to take a lot more than a campaign slogan. There are no easy solutions. And if some manufacturing jobs do come back, they’re going to look nothing like they used to. Americans will have to accept a new reality to stay competitive in the global marketplace—one that they might not like, and one that Trump doesn’t acknowledge.

it’s a message that echoes Obama’s declaration in 2016 that some jobs in the manufacturing sector are “just not going to come back.”

The movie argues that Trump’s efforts to reinvigorate manufacturing have not been successful, despite there being more employed in factory jobs now than before Trump was elected.

The message is clear. The Obamas are trying to hit Trump where it matters ahead of the election, in an effort to prevent history repeating.

Last year, when the Obamas inked the deal with the streaming service, the former president declared that the projects would focus on “training the next generation of leaders.”

“I continue to believe that if we are hearing each other’s stories and recognizing ourselves in each other, then our democracy works,” Obama said at the time.

Maxine Waters Asks For Money Back From Homeless Woman on Skid Row

Bad optics.

Published

on

While visiting LA’s poverty-stricken Skid Row, Congresswoman Maxine Waters made sure to ask for her $10 dollars in change back after buying a book from a homeless person.

The optics weren’t great.

“Waters visited the desolate on the corner of 5th and San Pedro in the heart of the city’s Skid Row, where she touted a $13 billion bill known as the “Ending Homelessness Act,” reports the American Mirror.

Along with Rep. Al Green and a gaggle of her staff, Waters visited a “tent protest” organized by homeless activist Stephanie Arnold Williams.

“I put all these tents here, with my own money,” Williams said. “Free sewing for the community. I do high-blood pressure readings. I give shade … and a place to sit.”

After purchasing a book from Williams and forgetting her name, Waters seemed overly concerned about getting back the $10 she was owed by the homeless person.

“And she’s so creative. She set up a really nice environment here, but she’s got all these educational books. And guess what? I bought the … Langston Hughes book, $10,” Waters said, waving around a $20 bill. “I need change.”

Well, that was awkward.

Trump Leads ALL Democratic Candidates In 2020 Poll

Almost half of voters feel that they have to hide their support for the President

A Zogby poll released this week indicates that President Trump has a narrow lead over all major Democratic candidates for the 2020 election.

Voters narrowly favored Trump when they were asked “If the 2020 presidential election were held today and the candidates were Republican Donald Trump and Democrat **** whom would you vote for?”

The question was repeated to include Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), and Mayor Pete Buttigieg (D).

The results were as follows:

Trump polled higher than all of them.

Specifically, with regards to Biden, Trump leads significantly with independents (Trump leads 44% to 36%), small-city voters (Trump leads 47% to 43%), suburban voters (Trump leads 45% to 44%) and both candidates are tied with large-city voters (Biden leads 46% to 45%).

“The president has made in-roads with independents, suburban voters, urban men, and, urban parents, while increasing the level of support among his base — men, consumer blocs, older voters, and union voters.” Zogby notes.

The report also found that almost 50% feel that they have to hide their support of Trump.

“Nearly half of all likely voters are “silent” Trump supporters. Half disagree (strongly and somewhat disagree combined) that they have to hide their support of the president on certain issues. This number has increased 9 percent since we last polled this topic.” the report states..

“Most groups who support the president agreed with the idea of privately supporting the president, but surprising, majorities of millennials, voters living in large cities, and Hispanics also felt compelled to hide their support for President Trump.” the report explains.

The President commented on his poll numbers yesterday, noting that they would be even better if he was given fair media coverage:
