Election Meddling: Reddit Quarantines ‘The Donald’ Forum On First Night of Presidential Debates

Hugely influential forum locked down after a single complaint from a left-wing journalist.

Published

Reddit has quarantined the hugely popular ‘The Donald’ forum on the night of the first Democratic presidential debates in yet another flagrant example of Big Tech election meddling.

Users attempting to access the forum are met with a warning message asking them “are you sure you want to visit this community?”

“The_Donald has officially been quarantined by Reddit. They waited until the election to totally suppress us,” tweeted the forum’s owner.

The forum now has much reduced functionality and its owners can only have it lifted out of quarantine by means of a successful appeal to Reddit. A quarantine is sometimes used as a pre-cursor to a total ban.

Reddit claims it shut down the forum due to “threats of violence against police and public officials.”

The quarantine was put in place after a single complaint from Vox’s Carlos Maza, the same activist/journalist who attempted to get Steven Crowder’s YouTube channel shut down earlier this month.

“Within 2 days of Carlos Maza calling for The_Donald Subreddit to be censored Reddit has taken action and quarantined one of the largest Pro-Trump forums,” commented Tim Pool.

“Reddit claims that The_Donald was quarantined because they have to spend too much time removing content on the subreddit,” tweeted the moderator of the forum. “This is a report of everything they’ve “had” to do in the last month. (Including stripping me of my ability to do the job they’re complaining about).”

The Donald is a hugely influential Internet forum with around 754,000 subscribers

A 2018 study by researchers at University College London found that the most “effectively spread memes” originated on r/the_donald.

Quarantining the forum on the night of the first Democratic presidential debates clearly represents yet another example of Big Tech meddling in the election process.

“F*ck Them”: Fox 10 Host Responds to Bosses Who Asked Her to Hide Her “Right-Wing” Views

Emmy Award-winning anchor faces heat for having a Parler account.

Published

A Fox 10 host in Phoenix whose bosses asked her to hide her account on “right-wing” social media platform Parler because a left-wing outlet might notice it had a terse response; “F*ck them”.

Fox 10’s Emmy Award-winning anchor Kari Lake dropped the f-bomb on camera as she was preparing to do a Facebook Live broadcast and the clip was subsequently leaked online.

The video shows her co-host John Hook suggesting that station managers wanted her to hide her Parler account because of potential bad press from left-wing outlet the Phoenix New Times.

“I think they just think it’s been branded as a far-right kind of place,” Hook said, to which Lake responded, “Jesus”.

“So they don’t want you tied in with anything like that, where you’re going to get blowback from the New Times or whoever it is,” said Hook.

“Fuck them. They’re 20-year-old dopes,” Lake responded. “That’s a rag for selling marijuana ads”.

“I know,” Hook said. “But then you’re in a position where they’ve gotta explain it or you’ve gotta explain it”.

“I’m reaching people,” Lake said.

The issue was raised after FTV Live published an article revealing that Lake maintained an account on Parler (as if this was some terribly evil deed).

After her outburst, Lake was not on air in her usual 5pm time slot. Her Parler account is still active.

“You Censorious Thug!”: Pakistani Foreign Minister Confronted Over Twitter Censorship

Pakistan government rep scolded over deletion of tweets in Canada and America.

Published

on

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was confronted by Ezra Levant over his government’s astonishing ability to censor the tweets of Twitter users who are based in America and Canada.

The exchange took place at a “Defend Media Freedom” conference in London (which some news outlets like RT and Sputnik were barred from attending).

Tweets are routinely deleted by the Silicon Valley giant on the orders of the Pakistani government, particularly in the context of criticism of Islam.

This is what happened to Rebel Media owner Ezra Levant despite Levant being a citizen of Canada and Twitter being an American company.

“You should be embarrassed to invite a censor like this,” Levant told the panel, adding, “Who the hell are you to censor me in Canada?”

Qureshi then proceeded to blather on claiming he was “being respectful” to Levant while completely failing to answer the question.

“You censored me, shame on you,” Levant emphasized while Qureshi continued to act offended that he was being confronted on the issue.

“You censorious thug!” asserted Levant while pointing at Qureshi.

Qureshi’s presence at the conference was not popular, as illustrated by the rows of empty seats as a result of people boycotting his appearance.

UPDATE: Facebook Deletes Policy Allowing Violent Threats Against “Dangerous Individuals”

Social media giant backs down after backlash.

Published

on

Facebook has deleted a policy update that informed users it was acceptable to post violent threats against people deemed “dangerous individuals” by the company.

As we highlighted yesterday, a Community Standards update published by Facebook on July 9 stated (emphasis mine); “Do not post: Threats that could lead to death (and other forms of high-severity violence) of any target(s) where threat is defined as any of the following:

Statements of intent to commit high-severity violence; or

Calls for high-severity violence (unless the target is an organization or individual covered in the Dangerous Individuals and Organizations policy)….”

null

“Dangerous individuals” includes me, because this was the designation under which I was banned by Facebook back in May.

Facebook literally put in place a policy that allowed death threats to be sent to people Facebook doesn’t like, which is completely illegal in virtually all developed countries.

Following a backlash, Facebook has completely deleted the section that allowed violence to be incited against “dangerous individuals”.

They now claim their language was “imprecise,” which is the Orwellian understatement of the century.

There is no indication on Facebook’s Community Standards page that this change was made. The original text has simply been deleted.

Perhaps Facebook is hoping that no one noticed. Unfortunately for them, the Internet is forever.
