New Zealand: Citizens Receiving Home Visits From ‘Political Police’

New Zealanders are receiving home visits from police to check on their political views, with one individual claiming that authorities asked him if he supported Donald Trump.

The visits are taking place as a response to March’s Christchurch mosque massacre.

In one clip, armed police arrive at a man’s home on Sunday morning to question him in relation to his political beliefs.

“The reason we’re here, basically it’s down to the recent events in Christchurch, with the shooting there, a number of people have been identified who we’ve been asked to go and speak to, so you’re one of those people,” says the officer.

The man is happy to talk to the cops, but they refuse to do so on camera and eventually leave.

In a separate clip, another man relates the story of how he was visited by armed police (again on a Sunday morning) because he makes YouTube videos criticizing mass migration.

The man’s wife and daughter, who were both upset by the experience, were also interviewed by police.

“I was asked if I was a Trump supporter, I was asked if I was a racist and have I got any ethnic minority friends,” said the man, who runs a YouTuber channel called Cross the Rubicon, adding that police also quizzed him on whether he owned guns.

Within a week, police returned to the house – 15 of them this time – closing off the entire street – to again interrogate him on his political views.

“They’re trying to force me to shut my mouth and to keep it shut,” the man said.

He also warns that governments are exploiting the mosque shooting to deplatform conservatives.

One wonders whether random Muslims receive home visits from police after Islamic terror attacks. Unlikely.

UK Police Chief Says Authorities Need to Stop ‘Wasting Time’ Investigating People Being Offended

The Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police has asserted that authorities need to stop ‘wasting time’ investigating people being offended on social media, noting that the public is sick of it.

Chief Constable Stephen Watson made the comments during an interview with the Telegraph.

Watson acknowledged that Greater Manchester Police had “become too assiduous at interpreting some of the rules to mean that if anybody at any time for whatever reason is offended, there somehow needs to be a police record.”

“We’ve got ourselves involved in stuff which is just not a policing matter, we’ve wasted our time as a result and we’ve caused people to question whether, frankly, we know what we’re doing,” the senior officer added.

Likely next Prime Minister Liz Truss has also vowed to put a stop to police investigating social media posts.

However, despite the College of Policing issuing guidance that officers need to focus on real crimes and not interfering in “debates on Twitter,” the practice still continues.

As we highlighted yesterday, a British Army veteran was arrested by police in Aldershot for re-posting a meme on Facebook critical of the LGBT community.

51-year-old Darren Brady was placed in handcuffs by Hampshire Police after being told he had caused someone “anxiety” online.

People in the UK are routinely arrested for posting ‘offensive’ tweets and other social media content.

Former police officer James Watts was arrested and given 20 weeks in prison for the ‘crime’ of posting offensive George Floyd memes in private WhatsApp and Facebook group chats.

Meanwhile, car thefts have effectively been legalized in major cities and police say they don’t even have time to investigate two out of three burglaries.
