Islamic Minaret Should Replace Notre Dame Spire, Says Architecture Expert

As an apology to Algerian Muslims.

Published

on

An architecture expert has called for Notre Dame’s fallen spire to be replaced with an Islamic minaret as an apology to Algerian Muslims killed by French police.

Writing in Domus, Tom Wilkinson, history editor of the Architectural Review, argues that the rebuild is an opportunity to communicate a message of political correctness.

“I can’t say I ever thought it the most beautiful cathedral in the world,” writes Wilkinson, before going on to slam Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, the cathedral’s 19th century restorer, accusing him of “utterly unforgettable fantasies of structural engineering”.

He goes on to call for the rebuild to reflect “a more up-to-date form of political truth,” which could include “transforming Notre-Dame into a memorial to the generations of peasants who were exploited to fund it.”

According to Wilkinson, it could also include replacing the church’s perished 200 year old spire with an Islamic minaret.

“What about the approximately 100 Algerians who were killed by the French police while protesting the Algerian War in 1961, many of them thrown into the Seine at the foot of Notre-Dame?” he writes.

“These victims of the state could be memorialised by replacing Viollet-le-Duc’s flèche with – why not? – a graceful minaret.”

A minaret is a tower built next to a mosque that is normally used to broadcast the Islamic call to prayer.

As I document in the video below, while Wilkinson’s proposal is unlikely to be taken seriously, top architects and President Macron himself have called for the rebuild of Notre Dame to reflect the country’s new “diversity”.

The favorite to secure the rebuilding contract, Foster + Partners, has been responsible for some of western architecture’s most hideous eyesores, including the new ‘Tulip’ tower in London, which critics say reminds them of a giant dildo.

Those who prayed for Notre Dame to be rescued from the fires that nearly destroyed it should keep praying because the threat posed by modernist architects may be substantially greater.

Nick Cave: “Political Correctness Has Grown To Become The Unhappiest Religion In The World”

Singer slams cancel culture as “Mercy’s Antithesis”.

Singer Nick Cave has denounced cancel culture and political correctness as “bad religion run amuck” in a thoughtful and insightful post in which he opines how society is being eroded by a lack of mercy.

The foreboding composer penned his thoughts on his website The Red Hand Files, urging that mercy is key to a society remaining “functioning and tolerant.”

“Mercy ultimately acknowledges that we are all imperfect and in doing so allows us the oxygen to breathe — to feel protected within a society, through our mutual fallibility.” Cave wrote, adding that “Without mercy, a society loses its soul, and devours itself.”

“Mercy allows us the ability to engage openly in free-ranging conversation — an expansion of collective discovery toward a common good. If mercy is our guide we have a safety net of mutual consideration, and we can, to quote Oscar Wilde, ‘play gracefully with ideas.’” the somber songwriter continued.

“Yet mercy is not a given,” Cave proclaimed, noting that “It is a value we must nurture and aspire to. Tolerance allows the spirit of enquiry the confidence to roam freely, to make mistakes, to self-correct, to be bold, to dare to doubt and in the process to chance upon new and more advanced ideas. Without mercy society grows inflexible, fearful, vindictive and humourless.”

“As far as I can see, cancel culture is mercy’s antithesis,” Cave urged.

“Political correctness has grown to become the unhappiest religion in the world. Its once honourable attempt to reimagine our society in a more equitable way now embodies all the worst aspects that religion has to offer (and none of the beauty) — moral certainty and self-righteousness shorn even of the capacity for redemption. It has become quite literally, bad religion run amuck.” Cave declared.

The singer, known for an eclectic musical catalogue ranging from punk rock to lovesick murder ballads, expanded on his opinion, noting that “Cancel culture’s refusal to engage with uncomfortable ideas has an asphyxiating effect on the creative soul of a society.”

“Compassion is the primary experience — the heart event — out of which emerges the genius and generosity of the imagination,” Cave wrote.

“Creativity is an act of love that can knock up against our most foundational beliefs, and in doing so brings forth fresh ways of seeing the world. This is both the function and glory of art and ideas. A force that finds its meaning in the cancellation of these difficult ideas hampers the creative spirit of a society and strikes at the complex and diverse nature of its culture,” Cave further gracefully explained.

It may be difficult to dismiss such elegantly expressed opinion, however hardcore leftists will no doubt found a way, likely by dredging up something from Cave’s distant past and immediately calling  for his cancellation!

Leftist Website Releases Cringe Instructional Video For Bringing Down Statues

“Reporter” states “Obviously, we’re not telling you to commit any crimes” while encouraging the destruction of monuments.

Leftist digital media website Mashable has published a handy video for its readers on “how to take down racist statues”, and has been allowed to promote it widely with absolutely no recourse on social media.

While President Trump is actively censored by Twitter for threatening to enforce the laws on those attempting to destroy monuments, this instructional video was left completely untouched:

“Right now, we’re living through a societal revolution against racism in almost every form. Part of that reckoning also involves acknowledging that a lot of our historical figures, regardless of their legacy, were pretty damn racist,” Mashable reporter Morgan Sung chirps in the video.

“Obviously, we’re not telling you to commit any crimes, and we can’t tell you to deface any property, but we thought it’d be interesting to look at a purely hypothetical way to safely remove a statue,” Sung smugly states, knowing full well that she is fully endorsing destruction of property.

The “reporter” then cites Sarah Parcak, a professor of anthropology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham who came under fire recently for also posting instructions on Twitter of how to destroy statues:

After advising to “Use chains, not rope,” Sung then lays down some safety instructions such as “It’s also important that everyone wears gloves,” and remain a “safe distance away from the statue,” or “Get the fuck out of the way” as she so eloquently puts it.

This is because a man in Portsmouth, Virginia remains in a coma after a Confederate statue was pulled down on his head.

Still, never mind about that, it’s still all fun and games for Sung, as she cries “So start those petitions and get them to your city council But if all else fails, bottoms up, baby!”

Again, Twitter seems to have no issue when leftists incite crime and destruction of property:

MUSEUM To Remove Statue Of President Theodore Roosevelt

Erasing history altogether.

Not content with defacing and pulling down statues of founding fathers and former presidents, the woke mob has now succeeded in influencing a MUSEUM in New York to remove a statue of former President Theodore Roosevelt.

The reasoning behind the move according to the American Museum of Natural History in New York, is that the statue, which features Roosevelt on horseback, with an African man and a Native American man at either side, could be construed as representing a “racial hierarchy”.

In a statement, the museum said “The statue was meant to celebrate Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) as a devoted naturalist and author of works on natural history. Roosevelt’s father was one of the Museum’s founders, and the Museum is proud of its historic association with the Roosevelt family.”

“At the same time, the statue itself communicates a racial hierarchy that the Museum and members of the public have long found disturbing.” the statement continues.

The move appears to have been spurred by a previous incident in 2017, when protesters smeared “blood” on the statue and published a statement calling for its removal as an emblem of “patriarchy, white supremacy and settler-colonialism.”

The decision seems bizarre, given that the museum made a point of saying it feels there is no problem with Roosevelt in general, just the statue.

Indeed, the museum has several areas named after Roosevelt, including Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Hall, the Theodore Roosevelt Rotunda and Theodore Roosevelt Park directly outside.

The museum also announced that it will rename its Hall of Biodiversity after Roosevelt as a nod to the former president’s work as a conservationist.

“It’s very important to note that our request is based on the statue, that is the hierarchical composition that’s depicted in it,” said The museum’s president, Ellen V. Futter.

“It is not about Theodore Roosevelt who served as Governor of New York before becoming the 26th president of the United States and was a pioneering conservationist,” Futter added.

The move comes as antifa leftists and BLM agitators continue to target statues nation-wide, having already pulled down statues of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ulysses S. Grant, Francis Scott Key, and Christopher Columbus among others.

Meanwhile, a clip of John Oliver mocking President Trump in 2017 for warning that Washington and Jefferson statues would be targeted next is re-surfacing online:
